Thanks, I also found this from nutsandbolts.com site which has been very helpful clarifying my understanding of many comments posted through this excellent thread:

" JIS
JIS is a bolt standard that is popular in the motorcycle world that stands for Japanese Industrial Standard. Because of their eastern origin, JIS bolts
are a type of metric bolt as opposed to the U.S. standard.

The difference between JIS bolts and other metric bolts is the head size. Lighter,
more compact designs have necessitated the use of lighter, more compact fastening
accessories. Basically, ISO (International Standardization Organization and ANSI
(American National Standard) bolt standards use bigger heads than JIS types. "

Can I get in ?

I think you guys are way ahead of me but I'm hoping soon to be running my ratchets in the other direction. I too want to just replace the nuts and bolts with new so if it's not too late, count me in :grinpimp:. My email address is aaronrcook@hotmai.com .

Thanks, Slow Poke

just got a quote from fastenal for coolermans "ruff list" coming in @$243 for "zinc" hardware. Too late , I am glad I went with nutsandbolts.com

I placed my order for JIS last week they should be here this week, then off to the platers. Don't worry about not getting an order in. Let me be the Guinea Pig for this and if it turns out well my supplier will do the same for anyone who would like it. I am also sending all my old original stuff at the same time to be replated so I should have a great supply in a couple of weeks.

Any chance someone could email me the "list". I just read this whole thread for the first time, I have been taking random bolts one at a time to Fastenal, this will really save me some headaches. Thanks, Brian :)

shipment arrives

Just got my shipment from nutsandbolts.com using coolermans "ruff list". Very impressive. Wondering (these are zinc) if anyone has ever had theirs plated?

I am ready to order a duplicate batch as soon as you post some feedback of your experience. Thanks.

Coolerman,

Thanks for all of your efforts. I have a 69 fj40 and a 82 HJ47 cab chassis. If you have any bolt info from these perhaps I can help (I just stumbled onto this string) Could I get a copy of the spreadsheet. jfloyd@blastdynamics.com

Cheers,
John
