Brentt-I was not me he was referring to as being spelling challenged, even though I am , and also a master of fat fingered typing. I think is was Farrk007 that gets the spelling bee honorable mention.:D

Excellent "LOF" writeup, Beowulf.

farrk007: Here's a tip that will save you some time and spills. Find a clean, empty gallon jug like this one

and cut the top off at the upper indentation (just above the label in that pic) to create a funnel. Remove the oil cap and you'll find that your DIY funnel fits perfectly into the valve cover of the 1FZ. You don't even have to hold it to stabilize it. A jug that uses a childproof cap works best.

Also, if you buy your oil in single quart bottles, be sure to hold the bottle with either label facing up when you go to pour it. It's faster and less likely to make a mess that way.

Happy DIY'ing!

I've witnessed farm:wrench:'er puncture the hind-end of a qt container with his pocketknife, similar to shotgunning . . . .()

I cut the upper half of a Mobil 1 bottle to make a funnel. It threads into the oil fill hole, and Mobil 1 bottles nest into it nicely for hands-off filling. I've since switched to Rotella Synthetic because it reduced my drips and oil loss, but still using my funnels that screw into the valve cover.
