My starter bit it after richloam too. I replaced the contacts and plunger but it still wasnt right. I took it and had it rebuilt. Im not too sure theyll honor the warranty when they see all the corosion in there. Call around im sure you have a starter/alternator shop near by.

What'd the rebuild run you from the shop? I'm sure I do have a shop, and I've got some mechanic friends who know the shops, too.

125. Im not sure how much of a deal that was but im happy. It was the original starter and its basically brand new now after they remanned it.

Carter you can buy a lifetime warr. from Autozone for 90.00 plus core . I know you said yours is from Rockauto w/ a warranty . So I would send back Rockautos starter and purchase one from Autozone . The reason I would do this because 1) Autozone doesn't question the part , they want you 100% satisfied ,so they will replace the part for now on . 2) How many Rockautos are there in your area ? There is an Autozone just about everywhere .

If you every have a problem with any Autozone just ask for the Regional office phone number and Regional Managers name . I can say you will get what you want plus a 20.00 gift card . If they don't want to give it to you just call me . I'll make a call .

How do I know this you ask , I worked for them for many years until our business took off . So I still have some connection .

But anyway thats my couple of cents worth .

I thought about that Rocky. But the last starter I had in my truck was some cheap aftermarket thing, and it sounded like crap. I think the plunger went in too far or something, it sounded like the sound you hear if someone tries to start a car that's already started - every time.

It annoyed me to no end, and that's why I went back to OEM.

BUT if Autozone does the same thing for a Denso, then I'll be all over it.

I've had pretty goodluck with their starters and alternators . But with anyting you will get a bad every now and then . Just make sure they test it 4 or 5 times before you buy it , if that goes well you'll have no problem with it .

I have had pretty good luck on most stuff. I went trhough a few alternators till I got a good one that was regulated where I wanted it but it was a no hassle process. Having the Autozone in Ocal and one down the road here has saved me a few $$ in parts as well when a starter died while in the pits.

Yea it's hard to beat their national warranty system . While we were in Alaska last month , I went into an Autozone just to see if I could pull up my warranty file . Guess what.....it was all there , hard to beat that system . I'm not saying buy everything there but things like brakes , suspension parts , starter , alternators ,any type of a vehicle hard part yea . If it has a lifetime warranty on it buy it .
