Multi use device...???
Looks like it would make a good beer can crusher?
A step so you can reach into your new cooler?
A skid to take the hump out of the road?
A bumper to keep people from parking to close to the cooler?
A float for water crossings?
or
An ejection device for the cooler when the ranger's closing in?

Actually, come to think of it, I do need some suggestions... if you look in that thread, you'll see where I put in a plastic workbox for a temporary workaround for wiring all this up. I don't like it, but it's okay for now.

Anyone have any suggestions for what to use in place of a plastic workbox?

AC compressor.... in August no less. Darn it!

Are you sure its the compressor? I chased a/c gremlins for a while trying to figure out why my compressor would work for 10 minutes then shut off and not come back on. After replacing lots of parts it ended up being an a/c amp under the dash

How many wires do you have there carter. It seems like I've seen some kinda strip with multiple connections on it to wire all that together but I don't know what to call what I'm thinking of so google won't find it but I also thought you could use a power distribution block for a car stereo with multiple amps. It'll have an in for your big lead and outs for your smaller connections. The most I found online has one in and four outs but you can splice some of the smaller ones together if you have more that four outs.

Won't lap in...

I think I have bad valves on the 3FE head, replaced all twelve with Toyota valves. Only 21 valves in the USA for the 3FE, not as expensive as gold, but close. Now to swap heads and wiring.

And Rocky, I like that tire carrier, what did you use to make it, tube or???

Positive:

Compressor wants to kick on, but is locked and only squeals the belt with the AC button. With AC button off, everything is fine.

There also a lot of gunk oozing from the clutch. I think there is a bushing in there that apparently melted.

Just ordered the parts. At this point, every AC component will have been changed except the evaporator coil (which I'm sure is around the corner).

Never heard of the AC amp. Is that near the plenum?

Thanks Jerry. Those would be about perfect, but I've got a 150A potential in there.

I'm also going to get another OEM plastic 'box' these 80's have on them - for $8, I can't really beat it... but I'm going to keep looking for better solutions.

The main feed off the battery is 4AWG. The only other really big wire is my 10AWG that runs back into the cab.

The others are the normal OEM ones. The new fusible links all come back to a single lug if I remember correctly (mine currently has 2 lugs for the three fusible links).

I'm still undecided if this is going to be the end result - I have a feeling if I pull a lot of current with my winch it's going to melt the OEM fusible link.

So once I get the winch hooked back up, who wants to get stuck to test it out?!?!

Orlando,

Check me on my thinking here but we have Power = Volts X Amps:

You said you have a “potential” in you system of 150ADC x 13VDC = 1,900Watts (Power).

Now, the Power Pole switch is rated at 45ADC at 58VDC = 2,610Watts (Power), well within your possible current limits.

I assume you run your winch straight off your battery…

I hadn't heard of it either. Its a black box on top of the Plenum about 3inches by 5 inches with a relay in it but sounds like your compressor is cooked.

rain again

Am I screwed.. I spent the afternoon prepping the holes from my flares filled them with bondo. I got one fender bondoed sanded and primed I have one fender sanded and the rear flare holes are bondoed, it was able to dry but now its poaring. Always rains on my projects my question is will the bondo be usable after the rain stops and it dries or am I gonna have to grind it all off and start over again?

A ) Jerry I used 1.5 dia 120 wall dom tubing ( 15 ft ) , 2 heim joints , 2 pull pins .

B ) Danny bondo should be ok , but why didn't you weld in the holes ?
Not sure what you're doing that's why I'm asking .

C ) Carter !!!

How you doin ?

Rocky I don't have a welder. I'm going to spray raptor liner down the sides up to the windows to hide all the scratches I've put in the paint. I would've done it right if I had the tools but as long as it will hide the holes under the liner I'm good. So you think it'll be sandable again after it dries out?

Ping me when you are ready, there is a sugar sand pit I want to see if I can get across in South Orlando.

Yea it should set up may take alittle longer but you should be fine .

You sure you want to raptor line it up to the windows ? Your 80 is pretty nice scratches and all , they give it character . Maybe do an urban camo rattle can paint job .

That could be fun, and a lot less clean up that mud! Where at and when?
