it's coming up on the 6th and we need a host. volunteers? Bueller?

There is plenty of time for those that would be available to host a Saturday meeting at a local park or picnic area or even at a brew pub or something like that. We don't have to do it at someone's home every month.

Anyone willing to make a commitment?

My Vote....Turtle Mountain:beer:

Turtle Mountain in Rio Rancho? Isn't there a place on 14 (& Frost?) that was associated with Turtle Mtn at one time?

yes, they opened both as partners, but split soon after. don't know the details, but I do know the owner of TM as well as the head brewers.;)

sorry steve, shawn is my hero now...;p

are you guys talking about lazy lizard? its at the shell at the bottom of the crest highway?

That's the place I'm thinking about. Been there once many years ago.

We usually have 5-10 kids at the meetings so whoever is volunteering to organize this meeting should keep that in mind when the arrangements are made.

Host November Meeting

Met a few of you before, new to town, not a member but want to join. I can host the meeting in November, Only issue is I work until 6pm on Saturday but get home before 6:30. If this will work I am game, just need some pointers on what to expect and how to prepare.:) I live in the Heights (Paseo/Tramway area)

that works for me. the restaurant idea is ok, the reason we stopped doing that was mostly because it was hard to hear and run a meeting in that setting. (although, not that much is decided at meetings now a days).:D i'm up for either if people want a change of pace. I'll vote for fl4031003's place, 6:30 or 7pm works for me.

OK

Well just let me know what to expect?
Number of people
How long it lasts
Food?

Thanks
Jeff

a show of hands who will make it please, for me- Williams'x4 (2 adults 2 kids).

usually lasts till 9 or so.
it will be a pot luck, everyone brings a dish to pass.

nice and laid back, if there are requests/requirements on your end, just let us know.

I'll be there...

Um...I think I've been there before....
:wrench:

If people want shirts/hoodies w/zips/long sleeves, let me know. Shirts are $10 for members, $20 for the hoodies w/zips, and another monetary amount for the long sleeves.

I'll also have issues of TT to hand out....

Hi Jeff and thanks for offering to host the meeting on short notice and given that you don't know many of us!

The meetings vary quite a bit on the number of people that attend. There could be 10 and there could be 30 or more. You'll get a rough idea by counting those that post in this thread. Generally, the host will prepare a main dish and provide things like paper plates, napkins, paper towels, plastic ware, and cups. The main dish can be about anything you feel like. Some do burgers and brats, some do chili, some do sloppy joes, some do pizza. The club members attending are expected to bring their own drinks and bring some food to share even if they are coming by themselves and don't plan to eat anything.

A typical meeting starting at 6:30 would have members showing up at the start time and trickling in up to 7pm or a little later. Some will start preparing the food immediately and start eating or feeding kids and some will start eating after 7pm. Alcohol is typically beer and wine and the members bring their own adult beverages. The group is extremely well behaved so don't worry about the neighbors calling the cops on a bunch of rowdy mud boggin' red-necks in monster trucks unless some of the Rio Ranch contingent shows up.... then all bets are off.

The eating is followed by male dominated discussion and story telling (i.e. mostly lies) and under-hood time and garage time and flirting with the women if Onur shows up. We've finally trained him not to grope the lady-folk so that part is much improved.

Somewhere around 8pm we'll have a meeting, at which Shawn does his thing. Nobody is quite sure what his "thing" is (other than maybe Jill) but he does it and has done it for over 10 years. Most of the club thinks he does his thing pretty good or we would pick someone else to do his thing. He earns his pay though, that is for certain.

The meetings take from 5 minutes to an hour. After the meeting, we do more talking and socializing. Everyone gets fed up with everyone else after precisely 3 hours so you can count on your house being empty at 9:30 with a 6:30pm start.

HTH.

( I plan to be there unless I go to the Texas Tech football game the same night in which case I won't be there.)

Thanks for hosting, Jeff. I'll be there (date?)

Onur, I could use a long sleeve. It's getting cold out!

One Rat will attend. PM me your details (time, location, any other details like bring chairs, etc) and I'll update the website.

thanks Mike for giving a more detailed description (notice I didn't say how accurate he was :D). I tend to forget when I'm busy about smaller details like the paper plates, etc. things have been extremely hectic and crazy for me lately. I was even so stressed last week I couldn't sleep well, and that NEVER happens!

getting better this week... nothing serious, unless my house roof falls in from the leak I'm trying to find.

OK 6:30pm on the 6th

I should be rolling in about that time , the wife will be home so if anyone want to show up a little early will be fine. My address is 978 Antilope Ave. NE

Jeff:cheers:
