It's been a sucky several days here for me and my dogs:

Jacob ate something he shouldn't have Friday, which lodged in his intestine requiring surgery. He's ok now, but on meds.

Saturday night, riding my bike with Rudy, he got attacked by an offleash dog. He got a black eye and a few scratches; the other dog endured all of the pain and will have scars for life.

Monday night, riding with him again, we got attacked by another big dog. Rudy put his head through my front wheel spokes, which brought me to an immediate stop, sending me over the handlebars head-first into the pavement. He broke a tooth which had to be extracted today. I didn't fare as well: concussion, stitches above my right eye, road rash on my pretty face, broken left wrist, my left knee is sore (hoping it's nothing serious).

I'm not sure which deity I pissed off, and I thought I had a positive karma balance, but this has sucked and been plenty expensive.

Ouch Man.

Sorry you are having a rough time.

But when you find out who it was that you ticked off please let me know so i can stay on their good side. Got enough of my own issues right now around here.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

ouch pretty much sums it up... that's a trip to goodberry's right there.

get well soon.

Wow! I figured something was up since I hadn't heard from you. Sorry to hear about your bad times.

Joe,

Sorry to hear but I do have to admit my first reaction was a belly laugh. You will remember back at this some day and do the same.

On the not so lighter note "F&^K" those people who don't take care of their dogs and hopefully theh owner of the one that attacked you is taking some responsibility (not enough of that in our country these days).

No worries it will all turn around and the next few weeks will be the best days of the year :)

I'm not sure what is up with about half the dog owners out there right now. It seems that half are very responsible and half not at all.

On a related note something similar happened with my step mom on monday.
She was walking their two dogs alone as my dad is still in the UK and a dog that wasn't on a leash jogging with its owner started the rush up to them like it was about to attack so my step moms dogs lunged forward but in the process pulled her over on the wet ground and it snapped her tail bone in half. The other owner just grabbed her dog and took off despite for my step mom's plea of calling an ambulance because she couldn't get up. Somehow she managed to get her and her two dogs into a nearby store to have them call my sister and an ambulance. Still don't know how anyone can run off when there is a 60 year old woman lying there in pain.

What is the other dog owner in your story doing joe??

Al that truly sucks, and it's so disappointing to hear stories like that. Hopefully the jogger will get a payback some day, and she'll have time to think about her lack of action while she's lying immobile.

I spoke to the police yesterday and the best they can do is talk to the woman. She had her dog on leash, she just couldn't control it. I don't know her and am uncertain which house she lives in, but I'll head back over there as the couple who helped me probably knows where she lives. I want to show her the outcome of her irresponsibility. Civilly there's likely nothing I can do since she did not break any town/state law, and I wasn't wearing my helmet, and the police/EMS weren't called when it happened.

Hate to hear that Joe. I think we all have some idiot neighbor that can't control their animals. I get mad at the dogs but I think I'd rather beat the neighbor instead.

Man, you got the 3x kick in the goods at once, I have felt your pain. All the best.

Bad crap usually happens in threes so you should be good to go now....Better luck ahead....

Dang Joe, sorry to hear of the troubles. And I thought I had a bad ride in the triangle when one of our members drug me out on a ride with a bunch of semi-pro cyclist ;)

Like others have said seems youve paid your dues here lately and should be rewarded with better luck in the future. Wishing you and the pooches the best of luck and a speedy recovery. BTW I pity the dog that choses to mess with Rudy :)

think of it this way... you are getting all the bad luck out so the rest will be smooth sailing for a while.... fingers crossed.

I had a bad bike accident when i was a kid, about the same thing, compound fractured my right wrist, busted knee cap and a concussion.

Dang - sorry to hear that, get well soon!

I had two Golden Retrievers attack my Jack Russell while I was walking him. I booted them off and snatched my dog up. He needed minor vet attention and did have a bite wound. The other owners didn't care - cops didn't care because the Goldens were on leashes. I can't understand how someone can get away with their dogs causing damage just because "they were on a leash...":mad::mad:

This is the little muttonhead that got attacked both times, before any injuries:

In the Saturday night attack, he gave the dog chasing us a warning snarl as we were trying to ride away, at which time she bit his rear end. He stopped on a dime and w/o making a sound, had clamped down on her jaw/snout and had her pinned to the road. She was making a horrific screeching sound and flailing, one of her paws scratched his eye. It took 3 of us to get him off.

On Monday night, the big dog came out into the street. Aside from the wreck, the dog kept coming at us, so Rudy - still attached to the bike - kept his perimeter and as the dog came within striking range, he struck.

Rudy does have some issues. However, he absolutely was not the cause of either incident aside from being the object of another's aggression.

Sounds to me like Rudy was doing his best to defend himself and his dad. I've got no problems with that. That's what you hope for in situations like that.

another shame about this situation is that your dog will automatically be labeled because of it's breed. That's such a shame.
