Yes, this is one of mine. If it doesn't sell, I can't say I'll be disappointed. I doubt I'll ever see another 28940 mile FST like this unicorn. It would be fine to keep it around awhile. As for Bat, I've seen some Land Cruisers do well on BaT while others seemed to go cheap. They have a higher rate of RNM (reserve not met) than most other vehicles. 30% don't make the reserve. BaT may be better for your Viper ACR or the Mercedes SL65 AMG. Defenders also do very well.

If you are looking for a super elusive survivor, this 1969 FST fit's the bill!

I stand corrected. That has to be close to a high on BaT. Congrats Greg!

@overton did you really just make more flipping it than you paid for it originally???

There were two individuals that were very determined to own this truck. I thought it was over when it hit 30K and if this would have been on eBay, it likely would have been. The feature of resetting the bid clock when bids are made within the last 2 min is one that eBay should deploy.

Congrats. We are all mad because we are jealous.

Congratulations on the auction results. Do you see the values on the earlier 40s rising or is this an exception?

I sway more towards the anomaly paired with individuals bidding with more money than sense. It was definitely a nice clean survivor, but $50k is absurd IMO. If it was a 45 series in the same shape one could argue it being worth close to $50k.

Low mile vehicles can be a slippery slope when you are talking vintage autos. I owned a '68 Bronco some years ago that only had 7800 original miles. It had sat in a dry barn for 30 years before I got it, but it was riddled with issues. Just about every single gasket and seal was dry rotted and the thing leaked like the Exxon Valdez just about everywhere. The wiring was chewed through in many places from vermin and it needed to be re-wired. The interior had an eternal musky smell that probably still resides in the rig to this day, BUT it only had 7800 original miles...lol!!

Believe me I'm not knocking on you getting the $50k. My hat's off to you for a great sale. I just think it was for sale at the right time with the right people with money bidding on it.

In most cases I prefer the low miles survivor to the restoration but there are exceptions. Like the plow truck with 5000 miles that is totally shot. A low miles survivor need to be something that the owners have cared for. Their owners may have taken them out of the game early or perhaps just had the wisdom to maintain, appreciate and protect what the manufacturer designed and built so many years ago. This truck was all of that. Survivors may not be perfect, yet that is, in many cases, what makes them perfect.

Back on BaT.

New seller is a dealer. But has a different username than the winner of the previous BaT auction. Confusing.
