Brian played several guitars over the course of the show. I can’t say for sure how many… although we had a good view of the stage, the air was somewhat thinner from the sixth floor seats than on the stage.

They sure could still play.
Apparently he's quite particular about it.
He'll swap it out if he breaks a string, or for a song in a different tuning, but the old red one is the only one he wants to play.

If his guitar tech takes too long fixing it he gets the hairy eyeball.

Fair enough tho. At this point he can do whatever he wants.

And I'm not knocking him, it just kindof amazes me how he got it right the first time and has played it for 60 years.

I've built a couple guitars and believe me, if I got to his level, I wouldn't be playing them. ...:lol:

Trying an experiment. I forget to close the compressor valve half the time, so this solenoid is plugged into an outlet that's switched by a bank of lights in the shop.

I never forget the lights because they light up the whole back yard.

Was always worried I'd forget and a hose would blow at 2 am and I'd come outside in the morning to a compressor meltdown.

Wiring at the solenoid is just temporary because I don't have the right conduit fitting here.

Anyways. Seems to work. Flip the lights on, click whoosh :lol:

That’s the pressure controller? Mine failed once. Glad I was home.
 
I’ve never worried about the line… mine has been on for a couple years now without being turned off. That said, I’m quite certain it would run comfortably 24/7.

Last line I had blow would probably wake the dead… 150 psi air line blew in the summer heat while waiting for hours at the Peace Arch. Had people running and ducking for cover… oops.

With all the air fittings in my shop there's enough leaks it cycles once a day. Usually at 2am, much to the delight of my tenant :lol:

Now it shouldn't cycle at all.

No, it's an on off solenoid valve. Air lines can bleed off and now I don't have to remember to walk over to the compressor to throw the valve.
 
Not Cruiser Related is understatement - But it's the most entertaining video of a 'test' on an inappropriate vehicle I've ever seen.
The video is nuts, the guys ability is amazing. This is how we learned how to drive in Yukon in the 70's on the original Alaska Highway.
It's worth the watch.

No, it's an on off solenoid valve. Air lines can bleed off and now I don't have to remember to walk over to the compressor to throw the valve.
Do you have an automatic drain plug? Could be also interesting to put one on the bottom to drain for 30 sec to get rid of water :)
 
I do have an auto blowdown setup.

I should check it's still working 🤣
Fancy… My Worthington compressor has oil lines to the bearings, but auto blow down is much fancier than it is… 🤷‍♂️
 
Kindof a cool idea. Must feel kinda weird with the trailer pushing. Especially in corners, but sounds like it's smart enough to know when to push.

 
Cause they can’t come down the Coq fast enough! Seriously though, cool.
If they had regenerative braking they could seriously charge those batteries on some of those grades… rather than all that energy just going to heat.

From what I read they do.

It's one of the more interesting ways I've seen electric get used.

Makes me wonder if on some of those multi axle trucks if one drive axle could be replaced with an electric axle.

You sometimes see a floating non driven axle just for weight capacity under trucks .

swapping that for electric would be even easier.

Even some 6x6 cruisers only one of the rears is driven... Now there's on interesting idea :hmm:
 
No thanks, can’t imagine what a truck battery would cost.
Probably it would be cheaper because it wouldn't need to be custom formed to the bottom of a Hyundai.

But yeah obviously battery technology needs to take another step.
 
Electronics also have short lifespans. I also work with regenerative braking in my trade, this equipment feeds back into the grid though.

Like your classic desktop computer or flat screen tv these electronic components only last reliably for 5-10 years. Each printed circuit board you see here is worth over 3,000 dollars and this regen drive in the back are around 17,000 currently. This equipment is also obsoleted around every 15 years due to chip technology moving forward and nobody producing the older components to make the boards also software not being compatible to those newer style components.

Unfortunately I wasn’t unable to upload a video of one of these regen drives blowing up.

A quick google of what a battery would cost for a truck came up with, (they figure because nobody’s really doing it yet) between 70,000 and 130,000 for the pack alone, so we can probably safely double that highest total estimate hah! Hopefully they get more than five years of driving out of it, unlike that Hyundai in the previous article.

Yeah I guess it comes down to how much fuel they're actually going to save.

Trailers seem like a interesting trade off. You don't have to worry about miniaturization like the car companies do, and the fuel costs are so crazy high on trucking any percentage of savings is a big number.
