I have been travelling around Sakhalin Island Russia in various company fleet Land Cruisers. Last Thursday it snowed 8 inches and I travelled 2 hours on a muddy road and the cruiser performed flawlessly. Seeing the performance and reliability of these cruisers that survive these terrible conditions daily sparked my desire to own one back home in the USA. I started looking at 2008+ model LX570's but they are too pricy and I think the air suspension would suffer if I put it in storage long term, 1-2 years.
In conclusion, I have decided to get a series 80. In my research, locked vs unlocked is a huge deal. I will probably go with best condition and add lockers later if not present.
I probably will not add many threads because every topic that I have thought of is already covered in detail somewhere on this site. I really enjoyed reading the long thread about flat towing!!! Great information from extremely helpful people.
If anyone here know of a pristine 80 near Houston, you help would be appreciated. Dominion in River Oaks Houston offer somewhat restored 80's and claim they do up to 30 per year. Anyone have experience with them???
