I have been travelling around Sakhalin Island Russia in various company fleet Land Cruisers. Last Thursday it snowed 8 inches and I travelled 2 hours on a muddy road and the cruiser performed flawlessly. Seeing the performance and reliability of these cruisers that survive these terrible conditions daily sparked my desire to own one back home in the USA. I started looking at 2008+ model LX570's but they are too pricy and I think the air suspension would suffer if I put it in storage long term, 1-2 years.

In conclusion, I have decided to get a series 80. In my research, locked vs unlocked is a huge deal. I will probably go with best condition and add lockers later if not present.

I probably will not add many threads because every topic that I have thought of is already covered in detail somewhere on this site. I really enjoyed reading the long thread about flat towing!!! Great information from extremely helpful people.

If anyone here know of a pristine 80 near Houston, you help would be appreciated. Dominion in River Oaks Houston offer somewhat restored 80's and claim they do up to 30 per year. Anyone have experience with them???

Hey man I'm looking for an 80 series as well. I spoke to I believe his name was Jamie from dominion seemed like a very straight forward guy and seemed very honest. it seems he really wants every vehicle they sell to be top notch. The only problem I have with dominion is I believe they are charging to much for their 80's of course they are putting a lot of work into them but selling an 80 with over 220k preety much stock for over 12,000 is a little ridiculous and seems greedy. I work for a dealership and you know there's no damn way they are investing more than 3-4K in vehicles before they "restore" them. I think the best way to purchase an 80 in tx would be by private owner or a guy on this website.

Thanks for the info. Dominion has a red/maroon 96 LC w/189k miles for $12k. I will go there when I get back to the USA next week. Cosmetically their LC's look good, but for that price I would expect some mods already done.
