I replaced my master cylinder recently and I am now in the process of bleeding my brakes. I bought those speed bleeders to ease the process as I am a one man show. Anyway, bled the rears no problem. Started the front, and I am not getting any fluid to the front brakes.

I opened the bleeder valves, rapidly pressed the brake pedal, and nothing. The hose is dry and no fluid loss in the MC reservoir. What gives?

But I also may have a confession, during the install of the MC my "helper" removed not only the caps on the MC but the bolt between the two fittings. Could this be the cause of my troubles?

Me thinks I will try that. A trip to Autozone is about all i need to do. From what I've read through searching (thanks Cruiser88) I can bench bleed the MC while it is still in the truck. What are the thread specs for the fittings on the MC? Or are they universal?

is it a new m/c? Toyota?

Yup brand new.. I tried "bench" bleeding it while it was still installed in the truck. Didn't seem to fix my problems. I will remove it this weekend and see how it goes. I did notice though, during the bleed, that there was more fluid being moved from the rear port than the front port. Is that normal? And just out of curiosity, what does the bolt (in between the two ports) do?

Describe how you bench bled it. Napa usually has a rack of brake lines with fittings. Get the line with the metric fitting (my local napa only had one choice) and about 18-24" long. Cut in half, one in each port and route the ends into the reservoir, they have to stay under the fluid level so the don't suck air back in. Pump away on the brake pedal, keeping the reservoir topped off.

You may also have a pinched line somewhere that is restricting fluid flow to the front axle.

That was basically what I had done. I used hard brake lines, about 3" long then attached clear plastic tubing to it and ran the ends into the reservoir. Had my helper pump the brakes while I watched.. No bubbles, just fluid. And not a whole lot of fluid was being moved through the front port.

Did you get it figured out? I am having the EXACT same problem with my 60. Mine started after I removed the front calipers and then re-installed them. Bled out the rear fine. There is absolutely NO fluid going to the front. My wife said there is absolutely no difference in the pedal when I am attempting to bleed the front. What gives?!!?!? Surely if two of us have had this, there have been others as well........

are the bleeders on the top or bottom?

if you put them back on the wrong sides and the bleeders are on the bottom you'll never get the air out.......................

check it out.........................

I was SO hoping this was going to be it but it wasn't. I remember I "TRIED" to put them on backwards first :D but they wouldn't fit. The bleeder nipples are up top. A friend of mine says there should be a fifth bleeder valve on a junction box on the firewall somewhere. Anyone have any ideas on that?
