there is a dude parting one of those out in the Seattle area, it was on CL last week.

They are diesel powered with a chrylser tranny. I think they are called bulls.

Used for towing airplanes, the one here on CL had like 2000lb steel ingot on the bed for ballast

I knew Chrysler own/make Jeep but I didn't realise that thing was a standard production model (as opposed to being owner-modified).

I've never seen anything like that over here.

It's a CJ-10a Flightline Tug. Came with Nissan diesel engine (same as the IH Scout diesel), most for export but some for US military airfield use. Somewhat of a ugly duckling/oddball that has a following among a small group of Jeep types.

From what I understand they usually had very LOW gearing and couldn't do street speeds, so some states won't register them for road use. People buy them to do lots of mods to them as they came with that useful diesel and a DANA 70 REAR, 44 FRONT, IIRC.
