Next best thing?

POWER STEERING!

Tires also bite a lot better when you have MORE control over the vehicle.

Got it already!

My vote goes for the 8274 and tirfor.. These items will get you unstuck where a locker will get you more stuck..

Got a winch already too!

TPI on Sale this week!

Then step up and get the air lockers installed.... ;)

Cool things is, Bob at TPI has much of his inventory on sale this week. Getting the Locker for $720 and the compressor for $220.
That's the best deal I've seen, plus super customer service!

Bob is a good guy. I have done a lot of business with him over the years...

Great info in this string. Anyone have contact info for "Bob" at TPI? Also, I've heard ARBs are not easy to self-install. Any thoughts on this?

Anyone know how well the Powertrax locker works. It might be considered a LSD, not sure. Is it smoother than a lock rite, Auburn, or Detroit.

Powertrax is almost identical to Aussie; not LSD, but a true locker.

LSD will not help if one tire is off the ground.

Detroit is much smoother, IMO. My Powertrax is very clicky; kinda crude, but it really works great off road.

Cable Locker

A "lunchbox" locker installs inside the factory carrier (the part the ring gear bolts to). It is relatively small and replaces the spider gears. A full locker like the arb or detroit replaces the carrier and spiders. They are stronger because it is all 1 unit.
It is also a  job since you don't mess with the ring and pinion set up. This also keeps cost down.
.... Also, I've heard ARBs are not easy to self-install. Any thoughts on this?
It's not a job to go into if you don't have some skillz. It's basically like setting up a differential from scratch.
