So will see how Road Runner Off-road is. They sent the wrong alternator, for a Nissan Patrol gasser
engine. 🤬 I was already to install that and the new lights. So I’m shipping it back and I’ll see how good they are at getting the new one on its way. I’m going to bet they will wait until it arrives back before they send me a new one. I’m a bit sceptical after phone call last night. He should be smacking some shipping idiot for not verifying the numbers. But can’t wait for the new MOFO12000 FYRLYT! Do not high beam me with your pathetic 50” LED - I will burn out your retinas!! LOL!!!

Cool Jack. Nifty design. Too bad just a bit too expensive

Seems my skepticism towards RoadRunner Off-road was unfounded!! I shipped the mistake back, and they have already got the correct alternator on its way! Couldn’t be happier. It’s been a very positive experience.

It's an ad in the classifieds...but the point is Toyota offering 8500 for an fj60 to crush it because of a seatbelt recall.

I’d strip it, take the $8500 and go buy another one that runs. I bet Toyota wouldn’t give a crap if there was literally anything left but the shell with the VIN

Yeah that's a lot for a 60 sitting in a field.

It makes me wonder if that's a US only recall?

Bj60's would have the same seatbelts...

I remember reading about the Tacoma's getting crushed after frame recalls, owners couldn't even take aftermarket bumpers off. Had to be crushed as they were.

Kinda nuts, but Toyota not doing anything about frame rot for 50 years except pay out the ass for replacements is nuts too.

The other tragedy was the ‘Gas Guzzler’ incentive 15 yrs ago, or so. I remember they targeted the 60’s and any SUV, big time. Thousands were crushed. And new trucks don’t get any better economy. But that particular truck is a rust bucket and $5K is ridiculous.

So this is interesting. It would be fun to work at this company EV West. They are an electric conversion
company out of California, I think. But this is a first. Very cool option. For people who don’t leave the
island, off roading couldn’t be cheaper.

If I get to this part of California I’ll be seeking them out. This company is the first best future option.
It’s a blast reading through their site.

I saw that a little while ago too, and I wish that's all there was to it. But the wild card is accommodating a huge 1200lb battery somewhere in the vehicle (for any decent range).

Just sold at BarrettJackson today. 1983 FJ60. Really a beautiful truck, spectacular condition.
Never saw a dirt road in a long time. Selling price $19,500. Which is pretty fair for a mint collectible
no matter what the make and model is.

$19.5k and no snake blinders!?!

Pffffft 🤨
If you want to see the rest of the chicanery about that truck I posted it in the 60’s forum. It wasn’t
the gorgeous queen it looked like rolling on the stage in front of the cameras. The MUD crew
sorted it out! I had to laugh, sold for so much more than it was worth.

I’ve finally figured out why the holes in my back lawn were so big…

I stole this quote from 60’s thread. For you guys wanting to re-gear your transfer cases and have vacuum
shifters. Georg has explained and stocks the ‘pinched splines’ output shaft. It’s a simple swap when the
case is all apart. So anyone wanting to do this let me know I can help walk you through it. The 3:1 low gear
requires some grinding of the case. I went through mine and had to TIG weld it back up. I’d recommend
TIG work to build it up on the outside before you start. Then you can just focus on clearancing the gear without
cutting through. Seapotato did his ok, I didn’t. But there really isn’t much left.

“You CAN run the 3:1 gears with the vacuum case ( has to be machined ) but you HAVE TO change the Tcase output shaft to the mechanically shifted version with the “pinched splines”. This will allow you to retain the vacuum shifter and you will not have any issues with the case popping out of low range.
We have the gear sets, shafts and rebuild kits in stock.
Happy to help.

According to latest fanboy on Expedition Portal. This new truck certainly has everything —-
BUT a diesel, so I guess, So what!

I think vaccination numbers are almost irrelevant now.

Hear me out before you spit up your coffee and start yelling.

The reason COVID numbers are high here and other highly vaccinated places like Israel is that we keep trying to get back to normal life, open things back up. When we do the COVID numbers go up despite being highly vaccinated.

If the COVID vaccine roughy drops to 80% effective in 40 year olds after 6 months and 40% effective in 80 year olds also after 6 months our fully vaccinated number has actually just started decreasing. In a couple months will leave us much less vaccinated than we are now, even if that last 20% get vaccinated which they probably won’t.

Well you say the vaccine even though it loses it’s effectiveness it still might keep people out of the ICU. Don’t count on that I’m thinking. A percentage of people out there are genetically predisposed to fare worse than others just as some will have no symptoms at all. Those predisposed people make up that 20 % of fully vaccinated people in the hospitals at this moment when the vaccine is supposed to be its most effective.

So in conclusion I think we won’t be able to fully reopen without swamping the hospitals until we are all getting 6 month boosters every half year.

:hmm:

Constantly amazed at what new chemical they want to take INSTEAD of a vax. When they all have probably had immunization cards since they were kids. I have. It's never been a big deal. :bang:

Take a busy bar, every one is double tapped, and one anti vaxxer sneaks in. Probably a bit of covid floating around in there. A bunch of people might get sick but that one person is at a much higher risk of seeing the inside of an ICU. To these people they see that as only hurting themselves.

And if you show them that the alberta health care system ( among others) is completely overwhelmed because of them "only hurting themselves", they probably won't believe you.

Can't win with them. It's become like religion. The lengths they will go to to find something that confirms their beliefs is nuts. Sadly that's just as easy as googling while taking a dump now.

" I've done my own research"

Oh? You have expertise in biochemistry and viruses? A multi million dollar lab? Peer reviewed papers to prove your theories and research?

No?

Then you just read some s*** on the internet.
