Specs say it all. Pulls less amps than Warn winch

That would make sense at 24V compared to 12V. P=IV (Power = Current x Voltage). Double the voltage and you only need half the current to make the same power. I suppose the main advantage here is two batteries vs one.

I hadn't scrolled past all the videos etc. the first time; just did my own calculations. Scrolling further I see the specs now.

Wow, 8.9hp is a lot. Would really have to make sure your batteries/alternator are up for the job. Would need around 275A at 24V to make 6.6kW (8.9hp).
Go big... 12.6 hp.

Go big or go home. Grab one of these used hydraulic winches off of JDM Military spec Megacruisers. No more concerns about electrical....

For sale here: SOLD - JDM engines: Mitsubishi 4M40 / Toyota 15B-FT, 15B-FTE

That looks a lot like the PTO winch sitting in my shop. It’s a 6 or so ton winch off a matador. I’ve not quite decided if I should just throw in the towel on that project. It’d easily tow my 40 over/through any obstacle. Still kicking myself for not picking up a cruiser PTO gearbox 25 years ago... well not really.

Well, I left my pound puppy at the pound today. So I’m looking for a ride to Millstream Road Dec 2
from Ladysmith if anyone is going that way. Bus services have halted due pandemic. Thumbing seems
a bit of a non starter now too. No such thing as too early, I can walk to highway but I have no ride from my house in the dark.

Ahhh, how times have changed. Neighbors would likely have the SWAT team called in if they saw you pointing this around while tinkering on your car in the driveway....

I saw that... even thought about if it was worth buying it. My current timing light doesn't have the advance feature.

That said I've not used one in 20 years... I don't even have a timing spec for my current setup. I've been adjusting by feel and symptoms to the point where stock specs are no longer correct.

Just advance till it knocks and pull it back a hair. :)

My trick for getting power out of my older cars was to advance timing and run higher octane. Worked like a hot damn. But hurt the pocket book.

Throw on top of that, lighter mechanical advance springs, heavier weights, and an adjustable vacuum advance. Lots of adjusting, driving, adjusting, and driving some more.

In my case, I've detuned it just enough to run regular unleaded. The current engine is 9:1 compression. The previous engine was more of a challenge being 10.25:1 compression... which is a little high for 87 octane.

Car fire on the malahat this morning. Looks like it was a Chevy blazer.

Always thought that was an unfortunate name for a vehicle. Know someone who had hers catch fire too. Atf out of the dipstick tube onto a manifold.

Like when they tried to market the Nova in Mexico...

Wasn’t VW Golf a bad name somewhere too?
You want a bad reaction, come over to my house and compliment my jeeps.

Oh, the horror! At 6 pm tonight Dec8 Overhaulin’ on Velocity playing a rerun on a
Land Cruiser build. I’m just saying’......I’ve got it on record so it can be deleted

I ran a thread on my heater in the 60’s forum. Anyone want to see what NOT tightening a clamp can do

So, the other night my wife is telling me about her day at work.
A guy walks in to my wife's work and he's driving a 60. My wife says "Nice Landy!" He doesn't say anything, just looks at her with a "What you talkin' about, Willis" expression.
I look at her for a moment, before I chuckle, and tell that's what you call a Land Rover. Now she knows it's a "Cruiser"! 😆

I suppose it’s better than “Nice Jeep”.
