People outside of the elevator mafia might actually think that's pretty good...😂

Honestly if they just made our work weeks 40hrs, we'd be a lot happier. I usually work more than 40hrs anyhow. My salary is next pay grade up, but not much more.

Haha my work week is all over the place...4 on 4 off 12hrs. 😵‍💫

Probably will change when the new hospital opens, they either don't know or haven't told us yet.

Allegedly going to hire a dozen more bodies to maintain the place but I'll believe that when I see it....it's freaking huge tho.

Supposedly getting a tour next week. Should be interesting.

The position requires a lot of the same skills required in the positions I’ve had at Island health. Fabrication of medical devices, braces, and prosthetics. But for a significantly better wage. Last time I was paid in that department it was about $30/hour. It doesn’t seem quite right.

Our wages were significantly less a few years ago too. Good machinists are hard to find. Adding welding and sheet metal along with scientific is asking a lot. It's been really hard to fill this position. Cost of living in Victoria has people moving elsewhere right now. We just lost the previous guy.

We're working on the new version (called hyper-k; 5 times bigger) of this right now. Very challenging work. This picture is from super-k. Neutrino experiments.

s***. I just boil water and hope the guy before me doesn't lose the recipe.

Uneducated running my own s*** for $80 an hour or 100 p/h in the dump truck or excavator. Been building homes since I was 17. The trick is to work half as much but charge twice the price.

Finally got the ball rolling on my next tiny home that I’ve neglected for a year. Crushed the tile work.

Haha; well at the end of the day the jobs probably aren't that much different. One just looks more impressive and makes people go 'wow'.

Yup lots of good ways to make a living; you're doing well. Definitely not that kind of money in electronics engineering; unless I went south of the 49th I guess....

Haha no, DHL.

Also, worth noting If you make an account with them you get a small discount.

I've had great luck with them so far. Zero complaints.

Got my last couple tcase kits from them.

Commonwealth ftw 🤣
I've never thought to make an account, good idea.

Online auto parts. They're really good for standard parts.

Shipping is about the same as from the neighbors I'm now avoiding.🤬
We have decided to stop buying from our neighbours also… 🤬 don’t know what else we can do other than spend our money locally and within Canada.

Would be nice to see some improved free trade deals between Canada, EU, UK, Australia etc...

Something similar to between EU countries where you don't have any taxes / duties and hence also no extra processing fees.

It's a prime opportunity for countries to maybe put aside some petty differences in trade and unite into larger blocks to have stronger bartering positions :)

I wouldn’t complain about that. Especially since N. America (south of the 49th is going to tariff us to death).

I heard someone say the S word a couple days ago…

I guess it is going to happen this year. Anyone coming out at 2pm? I’ll bring my 40 if others are coming.
