Newbie re-introduction: '75 FJ40 with pics!

Hello to all. My '75 FJ40 is almost road worthy. It has an F motor with 4 speed manual tranny. It has front disc brake conversion. All I need to do to get it inspected and legal is to fix the horn, the wipers and put on the rear license plate with light (if anyone has a rear license plate frame with the light, I'd be interested in buying).

I can't seem to figure out how to make the wipers work. I read in a thread that the wire from the switch to the wiper motor is blue and can be found through the glove box. Well, I looked and I think I found it. But, it is not plugged in to anything and I can not figure out how to attach it to the wiper motor. Any help?

welcome. i just wired up my dash (to include the wipers) this weekend. did not have the courage to test it. i wanted to live in a fantasy world for a week before i test it and have my hopes and dreams come crashing down around me.

Can you post some pics of the carrier? I don't recall seeing that design before.

While your at it... could you show us some detail on the tube sliders as well.

Thanks for the comments. The color is red. It looks a little orange in the pics, but it is just red. I don't know the color code, but I'm pretty sure it's a correct factory red.

The carrier was custom built by the P.O. It has a center mount for a full size spare tire, two spots for gas cans and up top is for the cooler, etc. It's made to swing open for access to the interior. I think the "tube sliders" are aftermarket nerf bars for a Jeep Wrangler, welded to the frame and fitted so they act as sliders. The factory triangular side steps have been removed. This was all done by the P.O. The interior has also been "Rhino lined".

To my knowledge, all '75 were supposed to have the 2F. Disc brakes came in September of '75. I thought I had the only oddball '75 with a 4-speed and F engine. Do you by chance know the build date of the both the frame and engine? My frame is April '75 and the engine is October '74. I always figured that Toyota just had an extra engine laying in the corner that they found and decided to stick it in anyway.

Then again, I may be totally misinformed and they all came that way......

I wish I knew how to tell if the engine came with the car or if has been replaced. I think it's original, but I don't know how to tell. Unfortunately, there is no VIN plate in the engine compartment of my cruiser. The VIN on the door plate and the frame match (FJ40205655). Anyone that knows more, feel free to include your input!

According to that number and SOR's web page, that is a really early F engine. If it is in fact that early, my opinion is that it was swapped at some time.....

Wow, CHEAP 40, your right. Based on SOR's site, it looks like an early '60s engine. If it is that old, it sure runs good for its age! Thanks for the link. So, should I keep it or look for a 2F to swap out? Or, an SBC 350 for that matter?

New to the site still trying to learn how to move around with threads and posts....I'm probably in the wrong area to introduce myself but here goes...
I have a 1971 FJ cruiser. I'm getting ready to do a drive train upgrade and I'm looking for an adaptor to a DANA 300 to a TURBO 350. That's why I wanted to join this site.... I'm hoping somebody will have one for sale or know where I can get one for a decent price.

Here is a pic of my rig... so far it's sitting on 35's and has a Chevy 350 with a turbo 300 and FJ60 running gear
