I own a 85 60 and just purchased 97 80 for my wife. I have a few questions about the 80. The body and paint are in great shape, however the rubber cauking between the fenders and the body is very dirty and stained. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to clean these rubber strips? Also the electric antena only raises half way up. Can this be fixed or do I need to replace the antena? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

You can read about the antenna in the FAQ section - very easy fix.

Don't know about cleaning the truck - that's not something I do.

I also have a white 97, and I've found the easiest thing to do for the discoloration between the flare and the body is to call it "character."

Other than that, a soft-bristled toothbrush might help. Careful about using anything too abrasive near the paint, rust is not our friend.

If it appears to be like mildew, you could try to use bleach and a toothbrush. Bleach wont affect the rubber's color or the paint enamel. but it will chase the mildew away. I guess the mildew finds it's way into the pores of the rubber and can't easily be scrubbed out.

Before I try it, I would test an inconspicuous area, maybe with a Q-Tip or something of that nature.

I have cleaned my White 95 and had good results with it.

Please test first though!

When I clayed the truck a couple of years ago, I also gave these gaskets a scrubing (be gentle). They cleaned up some.

The FAQ only tells you how to replace the mast if it is broken (i.e. doesn't move). Is your antenna bent at all?

Sometimes when it gets set a certain way it only goes to that position the next time you turn it on. Have you tried using the antenna controls inside the cab to raise or lower the antenna?

I have tried the controls on the dash and it only raises half way. I pulled the antena up all the way by hand and now it does not work at all. I can hear the motor running, but the mast does not move. I also cannot push the antena back down. To top all of this off the radio has no reception at all, I am guessing the antena is not connected now. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
thanks
