Little clip showing the EZ Locker that I thought was a stuffed rear diff. Not a fan of the sound of it and road drivability may not be great either. Will see how this goes.

Doesnt look too bad Martyn. Cant wait to see how it goes once you get right into it.

Martyn can you do me a favour if your 40 has the standard double bench seat in the front (Passenger side) can you please take some pics of the mounting/leg set up on it. I was looking at mine and it would appear that I am missing two legs at the front which would appear to support the front of the seat. This is what I have at the moment just to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Thanks mate so it should be a round piece of pipe from the seat frame down to the floor. Strange as mine is square/rectangular.

Is that your dash Martyn. The American version I believe came out with the padded dash also thats a left hand drive. The Australian versions came out with the ribbed dash like mine.

Above picture is not mine Ken. My dash is like yours although I've discovered that my 40 was built 6/70. So not a 71 like I first thought.

Cool the earlier the better. How did you work that out.

Wish I'd come in sooner - I've just spent several months researching the differences in the earlies for my '70 45.

Ribbed dash ended in '72 [US market ribbed dash ended in '67 when their FJ45 run ended - they went to a padded dash for their ADR's]
Clear indicator lenses are '68-'70; amber lenses are '71-'73
MPH ended in '74 as you said Ken
Ken your taillights on that one that needs rescuing are aftermarket period caravan/trailer lights - I know cause I bought a set for $7 for my 45
Also Ken - those taillights in post #20 [top pic] are stock '71 SWB taillights, but bigger than our american brethren and will contain an indicator I believe..
Engine bay vents deleted '68-'70

Martyn, engine is correct vintage [oil fill on block, not rocker cover]; you also have the crank handle slot on the front bumper, as well as a set of footman loops on the rear of the tub! She's dead stock I reckon. I even think your rear bumperettes have never been removed and are still correctly oriented!

Anyway, enough from me. Nice truck mate. Glad another early is to be restored.

Martyn, can I get you to do me another favour. Can you please take some detailed shots of your dash (mainly the knobs). If you have a look at the pic of my dash there is a button beside the ignition key which I think is a horn button but again not sure if it is factory or an aftermarket thing. Strange thing I find with this is that there is actually a cigarette lighter fitted which I didnt thing would have been standard for such an early model.

Anyway any detailed and long pics of the dash would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ken

Thanks Martyn. One more question what is that small knob under the left indicator and where is your horn button.
