Must be Aus/NZ thing. I like the ones on yours, the older style right? Hard to find a replacement for mine though. How about the front signals? Ive seen them all amber or split clear?amber but not all clear.

I have a set of the clears here as well as an amber set. The trouble with mine is that I can not register mine unless I put a extra set of indicators on it as mine did not have them. The large red light is a brake and tail light combination. The small orange ones you can see are an add on to make it compliant with Aust laws.

Incredibly good bodywork for New Zealand that's for sure....

It's got to be the best possible candidate for a top class restoration..

I'm gonna give it a decent nudge anyway. So I've been wondering if there are any good FJ40 parts shops in New Zealand? And if not what is my next best option. I know there are plenty of great places in the states but shipping will be a killer. Anyone know of anywhere closer to home?

Great find Martyn ! It's an original survivor.

Welcome to the madness !

......So I've been wondering if there are any good FJ40 parts shops in New Zealand? ....

I've used NZ trademe for sourcing many second-hand parts.

Aussi eBay is good for lots of things (excluding regular maintenance items like filters, oil and coolant that I get locally at places like Repco or SupercheapAuto)..

The folks at Cruisercorps in the USA are used to dealing with us foreigners and are much more reasonable on shipping from my experience ... but you've still got to order quite a bit to make even their shipping costs worthwhile.

And TOJO 4WD Drive Centre in Oz I find really good.

Oddly enough, I find the Toyota dealers here seem to be so greedy on mark-up that it's better to order genuine Toyota stuff from overseas even with the added shipping cost (and it'll probably still be better even when our Government brings in a system to get its GST component).

Your cruiser as mentioned has the odd ball tail lights... Be careful ... There are no replacements

The clear directional are also stock... I think you can still get those ... Some areas got the clear for a few years only

Do you have only one rear seat? Those can be found used

Thanks for clearing that up. I actually don't like those tail lights and they look a little past restoring so not sure what I'll do. Do you mean they are discontinued?

As for the jump seats, yes, they are easy enough to come by. I had actually thought of getting the bestop tumble and fold rear bench for practicality's sake. I have a 2 year old daughter and need to fit a child seat. I don't like the idea of fitting the child seat to the front bench.

Yes they are discontinued... Mia... Unobtainium ....

But... I have seen a few guys clean them up really well and looking at the amount of rust you have... You shouldn't have too much of a problem with them IMO

I hear you with the child seat... I got 4 kids (11-11-6-5) I did run a baby seat in the front in emergencies ... But... Switched to a foward facing rear bench seat.

My seat is a confer (out of business now ) but you can find them used... Also the LX had a rear bench seat that you may be able to find or there are other options like the bestop

What does your dash look like mate. Can you send some pics.

Will do Ken. It's stored at work so will get pics on Monday. Cluster is in mph, has a crazy aftermarket "country club" brand heater. Even has an outdoor hose tap in the engine bay to control the flow.

Hi Martyn, Where abouts are you located? I'm doing one up in Taupo and have an assortment of random second hand parts if you need something. Always keen to brainstorm as well. Mine won't be original as there isn't much that hasn't rusted away. A great source for random bits is Rockauto.com out of the US. Their shipping is reasonable and prices are great. Just ordered 8 oil filters for $80 delivered for all the cars.
