I have a set for 35's if you need to borrow a set.

Not confirmed yet, but there's a good chance Jemez forest gates will close tomorrow or Saturday; too many people getting stuck in the snow drifts or sliding into embankments with no recovery gear and tying up emergency resources and blocking roads when they get stuck (144 and 376 are currently blocked) and conditions are only worsening. I'll hopefully have an update sometime tomorrow.

Thanks Cheryl! We'll see what the storm delivers. It's great to hear we are getting snow in the mountains finally!

Guessing we might get some borrowed time with the government shutdown.

So what’s the plan? Looks like next storm is still on track
Maybe do a Puerco ride in the snow?

Puerco in the snow would be a cool and different experience. If this next storm delivers in the Jemez, I wonder if too much would be impassable, at least for lesser trucks like mine? Any other thoughts? Lets hear em!

Puerco in snow could be bueno, maybe easier on everyone being closer that Jemez. No highway issues, too. I’m game for whatever tho

Don't overlook options east of Albuquerque... conditions were awesome today.

Cedro? I debated heading over there... Looks like a lot more snow!!

Yeah. We decided late last night to go for a quick fix. A heads up if you go, the western gate on the south side off Juan Tomas Rd. is locked and you cannot get in/out that way. We went in on the north end, spent all afternoon working our way around the peak, then found the gate closed and had to turn around and go back. It was already late, and luckily for us, someone had cut the lock on the gate at the campground and we were able to exit there rather than backtrack all the way.

Hmmmm, I may be in. I have to decide tomorrow to take NY day off work. could be fun, especially east or Jemez. I'm up for either of those. Puerco snow doesn't spark me up as much, but the majority rules.

... and they were rescuing folks off of 144. it sounds fun.

yes it does! i'll have to check our tire size for chains, and see where I can buy a set local.

Went to Caja Del Rio and poked around to find an old camp spot today and made it all the way to a spot across the rio from the Frijoles Falls in Bandelier. I was pushing snow with my bumper in spots but never really had much issue getting 4R go. Biggest problem was dealing with the ruts we couldn't see. After another snow it would be pretty deep!

The roads should be open, there isn't enough personnel to patrol and make sure people are out in the Jemez. We got 7" in the village and reported 15" up high during the last storm. There are some sizeable drifts from the winds Friday. The predicted weather for the next one is holding pretty steady for another big dump. For Cerro Pelado the prediction is 15" NY eve and 9.5" on NY day. WOOHOOO

I would expect there could be money to make off of rescuing unprepared (ahem) "cidiots".
