I prefer the OEM blades with the LX570 wiper inserts. The Lexus inserts are definitely different and are much more quiet than the original OEM.

Which Lexus inserts? Have part numbers? If they are better than OEM I’d like to try them out in my OEM blades.

Here are the Lexus Insert Part Numbers:
85214-0T040
85214-06140
85214-42040

These seem to fit a large cross section of cars.. from Scion xb, to venza, camry, highlander, and a whole bunch of Lexus products.

What makes them different and more quiet?

Maybe compare to the drivers side if it isn’t chattering. Also compare to how tight/loose the blade is in relation to the arm.
I bent the end of the arm just like the driver side, supposed to rain good all day tomorrow so I’ll see if it worked if I venture out.

Verify that the end of the arm is at the correct angle in relation to the windshield. If something rotated the arm and the blade isn't roughly perpendicular it can contribute to chatter.

The other possibility is the bushings that the blade swivels on have worn. Maybe try a new blade instead of just inserts.

Personally I hate rainx. It significantly contributes to streaking if you use the windshield washer because it breaks up what is supposed to be an evenly evaporating film into tiny drops.
Success, I bent the passenger side arm to match the driver side making the tip almost parallel with the windshield and wouldn’t you know years of chattering wipers was fixed in 45 seconds. Thanks Bloc!!

The Lexus inserts are made from a different material instead of a black rubber they appear to be more of a silicone gray (almost graphite infused look to them) hard to explain but I prefer to run these.

Those exact part come on the above vehicles I listed so it seems it isn’t a Lexus exclusive part. Also the OE toyota inserts I have are gray and feel slick compared to regular rubber.. so I’m not sure of what makes these special but it doesn’t seem to be much.

Actually it states if fits those vehicles, does not state that they come with those inserts. Inserts are sold by style and length so there are several vehicles that use the same length and style. Give em a try you might be surprised.

case in point here are the Toyota Part numbers listed for my Land Cruiser per the Toyota parts catalogue:

Ordered from ToyotaPartsDeal. Possibly could have found them a little cheaper but I decided to just order all 3 full blades (L, R, Rear) and be done with it.

THANK YOU for this post, plus all the fantastic discussion. On my 2008 the OEM blade assys are long gone, current aftermarket ones need replacement, and I wanted the best possible replacement. Ih8mud for the win, again.

Bonus question - how are y'all cleaning glass? I've been using microfiber towel to surface wipe the inside crud, then hitting it with whatever automotive glass cleaner spray I happen to have for internal, external wash and dry the car then hit it with the same glass cleaner. Saw mention of orbital and glass polish above, interested to hear more. I think the windshield is OEM, need to check, hope so.

Rainx makes a good polishing glass cleaner for the outside. It doesn’t have any actual rainx in it, which I consider a good thing.

For quick exterior glass cleaning I like Sprayway foaming cleaner.

For the inside I’ve found most cleaning sprays will leave some small level of residue that contributes to fogging. I’ve had the best luck with using a very high quality paper towel after wetting it slightly, and lots of elbow grease. The towel is a wypall x80. It’ll remove nearly everything when totally dry.. the very light mist of water basically just lowers the effort.

I am OCD about my glass and I’ve found this to be the best overall method for me

Best glass cleaner -Bon Ami .

Reporting back - glass cleaned (and my windshield is aftermarket Pilkington boooo :() - OEM wipers for the win. Got them on Friday night before driving around in the tropical storm we had up the east coast on Saturday - torrential rains. Worked perfectly as expected.

I changed my inserts today.. would have taken pics but it was so simple it wasn't worth the time.

For fronts.. remove the blade from the arm and carefully set the arm down on the windshield to avoid it springing back and breaking it.

Slide the insert out.. when you look one side obviously has small detents to hold it in on the "truck" side of the blade. Remove stainless inserts from the rubber portion, clean them (the top one gets leaf debris), and move them to the new blade. There are little notches toward the detent end that ensure the stainless blade is in the correct orientation.. get both installed, slide back into the blade past the detent, then reinstall the assembled blade.

The rear was more tricky, with a different detent system. I had more trouble and ended up using an oring pick to make sure everything was where it needed to be. Again not worth the pics.. just make sure it looks like before you took it apart. An 8-yr old can do it. Maybe 5 if they are one of these rubik's cube nerds.

Overall an 8-minute job, and $18 for all-new wiper rubber. Hell of a deal. At that price I'm gonna start doing this once per year on schedule.

My local Lexus dealer wants $30 per blade, so I'm trying to be cheap and find something more cost effective, sticking w/OEM if possible.

I'm looking at the part numbers for wiper blade rubbers on the the LC on toyotapartsprime.com ($7/each) and for the LX on lexuspartsnow.com (about $8/each).

The part numbers are identical, so I'm assuming the rubber inserts for the LC and LX are also identical.

Has anyone with a LX gone to a Toyota dealership and changed out their wiper blades by ordering LC rubber blades?

I have a 2013 lx. I used the Toyota parts for wipers and inserts last week. Seems identical.

Thanks for confirming.

Did you buy it directly from the dealership, or did you order online? Mind me asking how much you paid?

The dealerships near me didn’t have it in stock. I paid 6.95 for one insert. I ordered starter and some other items. Took about five minutes to change out. There is a lot of YouTube videos.

Thanks for the link! I placed an order for all 3 inserts from Toyota of Cool Springs. Best prices I've seen. Even with shipping charges total cost was less than what my local Toyota dealership wanted for the inserts.

Turns out these happen to be the updated Toyota part numbers for landcruiser inserts.
Right, left, rear.. in order.
