Might not even need to be a complaint, just contact them and ask if “replaces” is in all of Toyota’s parts network or just theirs. Pointing out that you’d prefer the OE part over the sightline replacement if at all possible... after all 99% of the people they deal with don’t know or care that there is a difference.

Sure. I will only complain if they want me to pay shipping. I ordered the Toyota part, order confirmation and shipping confirmation showed the Toyota part. Sightline part showed up in the box with the note about replacement on the packing slip.

Yeah, I'd be annoyed.

I sent an email to my parts guy to see if it has been superseded in the system or something. Will post up the response if I get one.

I ordered from Toyota OEM Parts | EB TOYOTA PARTS | toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.com | Boch Toyota South. I have ordered many OEM parts for my 40 from them without issue at good prices. This is the first problem I've had. I just want to make sure I can actually get the real Toyota assembly from somewhere else before I call them to complain.

I got mine from my local Toyota Dealer (Riverview Toyota in Mesa, AZ) parts desk, @murf is the Service Director there. Just told them, "no Sightlines, I want the factory originals". They had them plus extra inserts next day. Price was good too.

My friend in the parts dept confirmed it is still a valid number, and he even mentioned no one should use the sight line parts and is a little ashamed toyota let them put their logo on them.

For those that immediately threw away your factory blades and holders before you knew better, I've been rocking the Michelin Endurance XT (reviewed on Project Farm). It's remarkably quiet, nearly squeak free, and sticks to the windshield full stroke. Definitely the next best thing. They were pretty expensive ($40 for the pair). These replaced Trico Neoform, which were not that great. Noisy/squeaky.

I tried the Ceramic Pro ceramic coating on the windshield with the OEM wipers . It is amazing how the wiper floats across the glass. At higher speeds wipers are not needed.
trying to figure out how to post video.
Highly recommended.

Is this normal fitment on passenger size for the LXs? 85222-53071 on OEM glass.
Edit: Arm bent, bended it back in place. Seated fine now.

Not sure if this is a joke or not.

Absolutely not. Appears like the rubber insert is too short pulling the assembly that is supposed to lay flat across the curvature of the glass back.

Yeah I just noticed the arm was probably bent by PO changing them out. I bent (surprisingly bendable actually) it back in place and it's seated correctly now.

I noticed the bend after taking a closer look at it.

Note it’s performance when raining at all different speeds. The bend/internal spring is set to apply a certain force against the glass. You made need to adjust it if you notice skipping etc.

Gaijin is the one who tipped me off to these wiper blades. I like them and plan to use them again if they last 6 months.

Looks like my Rain-x Expert Fit Hybrids lasted 4 years. The right side just tore up so I am replacing both sides with it again. I think they lasted close to 100k miles. I didn't notice any issues previously I would hear loud streaking.

Time for season changing prep. New inserts. Tried Bosch (decent), Michelin (crap) and going back to OEM inserts on my OEM arms.

Can anyone verify these are good...meaning actual OEM? Sounds like OEM may be many different brands?

If you want to be certain you’re ordering OEM, just order them from a Toyota dealer.

Nope, nope, nope. Don't do this. I made that mistake. They will sell you crappy substitutes. They do not stock the inserts. Nobody else buys them, so they don't want the inventory to sit. Get them from Amazon. The part numbers are posted here in several places.

Haha well shoot, I stand corrected. I’m due for new wipers anyway so this is good info, thank you.

If you make it clear you want the part number you specify they can get the correct parts and pass them on. Just make it clear you don’t want the substitutes they stock.

I doubt counterfeiters are working on wiper inserts by now but this is the only way to avoid the risk completely.

I tried that, they simply didn't want to order them. "This is what we got, do you want them or not?"
