We've just purchased a 2013 200 Series that was advertised here on IH8MUD. This LC is completely built - bumpers, 2" suspension, winch, onboard air compressor, those cool fuel wheels, roof rack, etc. etc. - most of it Dobinson gear.
The 200 has 136K miles, and the previous owner, who bought it completely built, has NEVER taken it off-road with the new build. Everything done to it is essentially new.
One note of caution crept into my head: the buildup was done by King's Chariot, in Florida, a firm which has, shall we say, mixed reviews here. However, I had a guy familiar with 200s over in Orange County, CA give it a serious look over, and he did not see anything wonky or suspicious.
We will get the truck in a couple of weeks here in Flagstaff, and will set off immediately for Absurdistan.
OK, were gonna drive it to the local Starbucks first.
The engine in our 80 Series, also totally built, needs to be rebuilt because a previous owner put water instead of coolant in it, and there is some serious rust in at least one of the cylinders. And having a 1FZFE rebuilt is not something you can get done in a short time - if you can find someone to do it at all.
One thing I wish the 200s had was a lever to engage low range, instead of that ominous button/knob. I'm trying to figure out how to fabricate a lever (maybe from an old military Power Wagon) that, when you yank it back, has a linkage to turn the knob or press the button somehow.
I'll let you know how that goes...
