Hey guys just joined the forums, thought id say hey and show you my 1986 62 series cruiser :) its not the prettiest or straightest cruiser out there but for my first car im happy with it. Heres some some pics of the exterior and some of the stuff ive been working on, on the inside.
Heres the car

Heres the center console i built, going to cover it with brown or black vinyl

Heres the rear boxes i built to store stuff that ill always have in my car and two 2x9"s. Any ideas on what would look good to cover it with? was thinking maybe brown carpet on the bottom half and brown vinyl on top to keep it looking similar to the standard panels.

Im building a roof console in metal work at school to hold my cb too. hopefully ill have that finished by next week. ill probably cover that with similar material to the roof lining so it mathces.

So far ive got front and rear ARB air lockers about a 1" or 2" lift, not sure and dad has some 33" muddies i can use when their not on his 80 series :) Hopefully ill build some sliders in metal work at school once ive finished my roof console and dad said hell help make a rear bar with tyre carrier after xmas.

Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers Matt

Looks great, and welcome aboard. I assume you're from Oz? Lucky sucker, indeed.

Welcome aboard to the addiction!!!

I have to say that I really like those boxes that you built in the back for the tools a such. What are the dimensions?

Hey Micah, the whole box it 820 wide, 290 deep at the base, 420 high at the back, 210 high at the front. the top piece comes out 70. Theres a seperator 540 along to put a speaker in next to the toolbox, thats also the whhelarch starting point too. Dunno if that will be a problem? Basically ijust tried ti fill in everywere that the rear panels I removed were.

Now off to school :frown:

Cheers Matt

Yeah, that center console looks great. I don't know why I have never thought to make one out of wood. Did you use the same holes that the old one came out of?

Brian

Hey Brian, cause im in Aus my cruiser came with a 3 quater bench seat for passengers so there was no console :frown:
As soon as i got the truck I pulled it out, moved over the drivers seat and put in an aftermarket seat for myself
I made up a metal bracket from the seat mounts then built of it. Sounds dodgy but its strong and you cant see it all now that its covered nicely with vinyl :) Ill get some pics of the console and oneof the boxes i just covered tomorrow morning.

Dude, Wow! Nice boxes, you've inspired me to want to do something similar. Eventually. I've got too many other things to worry about right now. :frown: (Broken leaf spring, still in the process of desmogging...)

Hey guys heres a shot of the center console now that its all covered.

Heres a shot of one of the boxes in the car before i mounted the door and speaker panel. The Speaker panel is aluminium checkerplate and the door is covered in the creme vinyl.

Thanks, matt

Welcome inmate aus_matt7!

Used to live in Brisbane...funny, I dont remember many Cruisers.

Swing on by, and we'll turn wrench's...might need some extended breathers.

Even if you still lived in Brisbane, thats abit far haha.

Heres some updated pics of the finished boxes in the rear, till i get my 6x9s to put in and of my overhead console i made in metal work at school.

Heres the finished boxes.

And heres some bad photos of the overhead console
you can see at the front (right side of the screen) were my cb will get mounted in the middle is a big storage compartment with a door on both sides and at the back is a flip down compartment for people in the back or rarely used items.

Heres the rear flip down compartment.
