New-to-me RTT trailer....

Thanks Dan and John, appreciate your informative posts. I'm mulling it over, and will make some decisions soon!

While I agree that same size as the tow rig's mud tires is undesirable when those are larger than say, roughly a 31", for a light trailer I'm not convinced that trailer tires are called for. A set of Load Range D or E tires with at least a 3 ply sidewall (for puncture resistance more than load capacity) is all that I see the need for. From what I've seen posted finding a quality trailer specific tire isn't easy if even possible.

I'll be putting 31-10.50R15 BFG A/T's on our TrailBlazer (think M416/M101 with a built-on tent) and if I could get a 31-8.00R15 as a common size I'd use them instead.

I agree 100%. I have 30-9.50R15s on my little trailer and they are way overkill. I would love some skinnier versions.

With a normal camping load I run 18 to 20 psi. Any more and the tread wears too fast in the center and the brakes tend to lock up prematurely on slick spots. They are very stiff riding and don't help to cushion the trailer any.... but they last a long time, don't puncture and look sexy cool, which is probably the most important reason to have them. ;)(
