Well I just picked this 83. It needs a timing chain but I thought it was a good deal. My question is it’s a SR5 I assume but is it a “black package”? Does the interior look stock? I’m guessing not

Sorry I had to turn away from my screen for a second and grab my sunglasses... youch that's an unfortunate interior. Sorry just messing with you at least you found a 1st gen Hilux! No, it doesn't look stock I wasn't even aware of red interiors on the 1st gen trucks. Black Package trucks were... black.. and had chrome bumpers, door handles, grille, drip rails, side vents, chrome oval rear bumper, chrome windshield molding. Oh and a black interior and black/grey/silver stripes.

Those look like Celica seats or recovered 2nd gen truck seats but I could be wrong just saw the height adjuster knob.

Is that a chrome rollbar?

Hey I didn’t think the interior was original but had no clue with the seats door panels and headliner done like that

It is a sr5 right?

It is a sr5 right?

I don't know for sure. According to my 1982 Toyota sales catalog :) the SR5 interior had the oil and volt meter gauges, a tachometer, 3-spoke padded steering wheel, low-back buckets with a center console, full door trim with carpet on the bottom third, tinted glass, full carpet, and the standard stereo. Gee, I just found out mine is an SR5!

SR5 exterior was pretty basic over the standard trucks. Halogen headlights, white spoke wheels, and "Sport styled" outside mirror.

Don’t know if these are sport mirrors or not lol

Does anyone sell sliders and aft market bumpers for these trucks?

Ok I promise this is my last question for this thread. Lol. Where is a good place to source new fuel line brake line and a gas tank etc?

Start some searches on Google. Not much here on 'mud, try Pirate 4x4 or Yotatech or Marlin Crawler forums. The soft line is slightly smaller than 5/16" which will seem a little loose on the Toyota fittings. Most people have given up trying to get OEM fuel line parts, but you may have luck at O'Reilly's or Autozone for lines. As for fuel tanks, there are aftermarket ones available just make sure it has a space for the return line. The factory 22R carbureted trucks use a fuel pump that's driven off the camshaft, it has a feed line from the tank, a feed line to the carb, and a return line back to the tank.

Having fun yet?

....well this is harder than finding parts for my 40 and 55s but it will be worth it. I’ve always wanted one of these and finally found one with no rust and at a great price

No aftermarket gas tanks for '83s that I could find. I had mine boiled out. I did find a new sending unit on eBay, shipped from Indonesia (took 6 weeks, but free shipping).

Yeah I couldn’t find any. Probably have someone do it but there an hour away oh well

I found a new gas tank for my 83 long bed online on autozone. Just measured my tank and compared it to the many models they had. It ended up being 19 gallon tank instead if the 14 falling original tank but had very little issues fitting it. My original thank was completely rusted through on the inside.
