Yep, got the truck. Had it shipped from NY to Utah.

The truck is not in the shape that I thought that it would be and I think that I paid too much. My fault. I should have been more diligent on my investigation prior to purchasing.

I think it has a considerable amount of rust under the poorly applied Line-X and rust under that horrible undercoating he had applied. In speaking to him, he assured me the rust was removed prior to the undercoat's application but it is fairly apparent that this is not the case.

Too late now, I have the truck and am going to make the best of it and try not to dwell on what a rube I am for not being more diligent prior to purchasing.

.

We had made those kind of errors in some sorts or another. Well its a 82 which is pretty desirable. Most people put alot of work trying to put your drivetrain in there older trucks. So your half way there:bounce:. Good luck with the truck

Hi.. newbie here.. :flipoff2:
I've been lurking and looking at FJ40s for several years, but lately seem to be looking more seriously. After lots of reading, I think I'm looking for a later year, like your 1982 (or anything after 08'80) But, they seem scarce. There's a really nice looking one at TLC in Van Nuys, CA selling for about $37k..:crybaby:
Also looking at post-1975 FJs also.. but would rather have the FJ60 transmission as I will use this as a daily driver, as well as off-road.

If anyone has a line on a nice '81+ FJ40, let me know!

Anyways, congrats on your rig! -Jay
