Hi All,

Newbie, but I needed to share my find! We originally were looking for a clean 2006/7 100 series with low miles at a reasonable price, $14-17K. I searched far and wide, for a long time (4-5 months) but never came across one that I really felt good about. We expanded our search and started looking at the GX, my wife actually liked the 120 more than the 100.

The search started and low and behold after a month I found it, about 5 miles from my house, from an 81-year-old woman (seriously) who stopped driving. My find, a 2008 GX with 64,800 garage kept miles. The timing belt and new tires were done in late 2017 when it had 58,500 miles. The owner just had all the fluids changed (trans, diff, etc.) and the dealership put in new shaft seals along with rotors/brakes. It was maintained exclusively at Lexus - platinum contract and everything is documented on Lexus’s site from the first 5K oil change to the most recent service. There are some small parking lot dings on the outside, the inside is damn near perfect (no rear DVD) and comes with third row seats that were never used. She was asking $15,500 and I paid it without haggling. We’re picking it up in a few days and I’ll post pictures, now I have to decide if this is worth just keeping the way it is or doing a small build.

Yeah that's a real tough first world dilemma. To give you my experience with this type of choice, before i got the GX i had a 98 M3 sedan in Alpine White. It had perfect interior and i bought it with about 72k on the clock.. I wanted a fun track day car and something i could beat on every now and again. I found myself not driving it much to avoid putting miles on it and my brain kinda blocked me from really tracking it.. Long story short, i ended up selling it on BaT and had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders for some reason; maybe im just a weirdo like that. Now i have the GX that just rolled through 200k and a 65 mustang that's mid build and i'm happier. Everyone's different but this was my experience. That's a great find though!

Thanks, believe me it took a lot of looking at crappy ones before I found this one...it was just luck. I found it craigslist, called the woman and went right over, she said she had about 4 calls since she posted it earlier in the day. That's why I'm not sure if I want to build it or just leave it, chances of finding another one like this are slim

Maybe just put some more mileage on her before you start building. My thought process on something like this is replace what you need to replace when needed vice dumping a bunch of money into a clean example like this or any car for that matter. Just my two cents. Great find!

listen, welcome aboard and all that, but... this thread is useless without pics! :D:)

and 100% yes it's worth doing a mini-build! suspension & tires at least! :)

No-build = just another soccer-mom on the road. Lol

Nice find sir! Any pictures yet? I understand the hesitation. I am hesitant to get tires before I lift, to lift before I decide how far I want to go with bumpers and plates. If you start with a suspension that can't take the weight of the steel you put on that is money down the hole! I am stuck...

Finally picked it up, here are a few pics.
