Just a new LC owner here....
Wanted to introduce myself here in Austin TX.

I was in need of a new family hauler. The 3 kids had outgrown my 06 EVO and it was starting to show wear from them. So time for something bigger and clean up the EVO.
I had been looking for a descent (well maintained) 100 LC for sometime. Made a few offers here and there on a 2001, and a 2003 up in Dallas. Saw this one at Charles Maud here in Austin and swung by to check it out.

2006 LC with 98k, no AHC and no Rear DVD. I didn't really care for the Blue or the bling wheels but I can overlook it with the outstanding maintenance this thing had.
New it was sold at Maund as a "government" vehicle. Little nervous about that but they showed me the service records and man was this thing over serviced like mad (too much even?). Seems the "government owner" had a open invoice with the service dept and the service manager took advantage of it. Anything they could think of they serviced or replaced. Oil changes every 3k like clock work. New Wipers almost every other time. They went crazy with it. I got them to put it up on the lift and checked boots out, looked for excessive dirt or wear. I seriously doubt this thing ever went offroad even to wash it in the front lawn. I had a really hard time finding anything wrong with it to negotiate with. It was a little over what I wanted to spend but based on what I learned on this site, it seemed worth it. And the interior was clean and not smoked in. I felt pretty lucky to stumble on this one, I got this Mall Cruiser for 24k.

The only thing bad about it was only one key. But at least it was a master key.
I figure once I push past 3k miles and everything is checking out, I will feel pretty good about it.

And driving impressions, from an Mitsu EVO to this.... Wow is this thing quiet and smooth. Like driving my lazy-boy around. So much more relaxing. And the mileage is similar. I would get about 17 in the evo using premium gas and a heavy foot. I just did my first fill up and came up with 14.8. So about even there. And since I am a DSMer and EVO owner, mods aren't too far away for sure. Cant wait to go play in the dirt.

This site along with the general population is partly responsible for shoving me in the direction of looking for a LC. It is so refreshing to be on a site where people talk intelligently about the vehicles instead of bench/forum racing. Hope I can contribute a 1/10 as much of some of you old timers.

Sounds like a great buy, and welcome to the board! If you ever venture off the beaten path, you may want to remove the damage mulitiplier in the front though. Nice rig, I actually really like that color. By the way, there may be a few owners willing to sell you their factory 18" rims. Also, tundra rims fit right on no prob. Cheers, and welcome to the board!

Nice find and welcome. The bling wheels can easily be painted or plasti-dipped. Wait till you remove the running boards and get larger tires, it totally transforms the vehicle.

i agree with plastidipping the wheels! I finally got around to taking off my running boards. Made it look less of a mall cruiser and more like a LAND cruiser.

Congratulations on your find and welcome. Seems to me like a great price for a well maintained Land Cruiser.

I just picked up my UZJ100 (2006 vintage) today. Had it shipped in from Florida. Has more than 1/2 the miles of yours, but cost alot more and the service history is not as well documented. In fact, the condition of the interior makes me wonder how well it was maintained. It's amazing how much pictures do not reveal, and how little salesman will tell you (even when asked specific questions).

I'm not too far away from you, about 100 miles Southeast of Austin. I just joined TLCA (although this is not my first Land Cruiser) and am working on joining Alamo City Land Cruisers. They seem to be the closest club to me. There are lots of Land Cruisers running around Austin. My 1995 FZJ80 found its new home in Austin about a year ago.

Have fun with your new to you UZJ100!

From a former DSM/Mirage Turbo owner: Congrats!

Great color too! Well, I happen to think so, I went to Kansas City from Seattle to find one in Pacific Blue, haha.

Congrats! I can't believe you made it with an evo with 3 kids!

Sweet - maybe I'll see you around at hidden falls some time

I'd offer up some in person expertise but sadly I have none so far

Congrats! One of the best aspects about your 100 - it didn't get the goofy stick-on fender flares. Mine had them. Okay, as a fellow '06 owner, I'll throw out an inspiration pic...

Dumped the flares, minivan steps, trimmed the rear mud flaps, cranked the torsion bar .6" and swapped tires...

The blue looks good on a cruiser.

Make sure to get a copy of that key right away, it'll cost you if you loose your only key.

Thanks guys!

I hadn't even thought about the fender flares... Yeah, I am glad they are missing!
Blue is starting to grow on me. Looks really nice when sunny. I am going to wait some miles before changing anything on it. In case I need to spend some money on something I might have missed that will be expensive.

I can't wait to take the steps off, the cattle gaurd has to go and 285 series tires are a must. Should look much better. I have had it a week or so and I must say, I really enjoy driving it. Much more than I thought I would. The EVO was such a fun little car but kids were tight.

Already ordered an OEM key off ebay (http://goo.gl/OkT5I ) for 149.99. THere is one left. SHould get it next week.

I just hope I get to really get to use it this summer up in the mountians (CO).

The EVO now becomes a garage queen. 45k miles and I love driving it, just not with kids in it.

Is there even a TLC club of Austin?

What size BFGs are you running?

275/70/17 BFG ATs

I think he meant 275/70/18.

I have the same size BFGs and love them. Fit fine before and after the lift, no rubbing.

Yes we meet the last Tuesday of the month at Rudy's BBQ on 183 about 7pm. Also second Saturday in front of zingers hardware at 38th and Lamar. 9am to about noonish. Go to the clubhouse section on this site and you'll see the Austin chapter.

You think right... I thunk wrong. Thanks ;-)

Welcome from another 100 owner in Austin, truck looks great, and sounds like well maintained..., price not bad for that year! Glad to hear you left the Mitsu behind!
