So, I traded my 2010 FJC for an 08 GX470 (three kids didn't like the back seat of the FJ)
I've been dissapointed in the ride of the GX - it has 108k miles, and I assume it has the original shocks. No matter what setting I put the shocks on it still has too much body roll and sloppy handling for me. Maybe this is the "Lexus Ride" that it's known for, but I'm used to the tight - solid feel of my FJC.
What are my options to improve the ride and handling? Do I need to ditch the adjustable shocks and airbags altogether?

ItS probly gonna be softer "luxry" ride than your used to ... if you plan going off road with the vehicle your going to want to upgrade suspension anyways ... but basically if you haven't aquire the knowledge from every build thread here you'll need to do a spring conversion kit and new shocks in the rear and new coil over shocks in the front ... and 600lb springs seems to be the go to spring rate... this will usually lift the gx about 2.5-3 inches as well .... thats the first upgrade most owners do ...
If you don't want to do full suspension upgrade I'm sure you can do just a spring conversion with a shorter spring still keep the stock ride height. .. don't think iv seen many do that though ...
If you want to do a full setup ... PM me or @SouthernSS at southernstylespeed.com can fix you up with one of there stage kits that comes with everything you need for a great price ...

It was a night and day difference once I installed my suspension setup, drives much more like a truck but still has a Lexus feel to it. Search around, you'll find a variety of setups

Welcome!

well, I do still have the stock 16" FJ Cruiser wheels and OEM rear springs. I think I will start with Billstein 5100s and adjust the rear air bags and see how it rides. I can always change the air suspension to coils in the future.

I love my suspension! We just went out with the kids on a rutted out fire road and it was a dream! It soaked up all those water board roads and rocks. I couldn't be happier! My 06' Tacoma was quite stiff and not all that forgiving.
