Hey all, I am totally new to this site. My son and I have a '95 FZJ80 that we use for camping. We lifted it 3" and mounted 315-75-16's this spring. Works great for our use, mostly Boy Scout camps. We often tow the troop trailer and carry sleeping bags and other light gear on the roof. We are thinking of heading to The Cliffs Insain Terrain next month, any advice?

Welcome to Mud, I think the 80 exemplifies the "Be Prepared" motto; IMHO it is one of the most completely capable platforms available. Only suggestion I have to humbly offer is move those foglights to where they will be much more protected. Welcome Again!

Really nice looking cruiser! I like what you have done with it. Sounds like you get a lot of quality use out of it. How is towing with it lifted as it is? x2 on the versatile platform.
Welcome

Are there any rocks where you are preparing to travel?

No location given.

sorry I need a frame of reference, its been a rough week.

Greetings.

Nice lookiing 80, love that color. I wish my body work was that clean. I was at Cliffs for the first time in July for the TLCA gathering and will be heading out this Sunday with a guy form work and his buggies.
Cliffs it seems can be as easy or hard as you would like it to be. If there has been rain plan on some MUD. I was in a group lead by another 80 and did some stuff I never thought possible with a mild lift and 285 AT tires. I will add if you don't move those fog lights the ground will.

Have fun.

It appears you are from Illinois, I'm in Highland Park.

The Troop Trailer is somewhat light and it tows great! We did not have it this spring when we were at Canyon Camp near Galena IL. The Rangers were not letting anyone drive up to the top campsites and wanted us to "hoof"it up. However they did allow my 'cruiser up as long as I took them with! Came in handy without really wheeling it at all...

What kind of lift do you have on there (J/L, Heavy/Med, etc.) and what kind of tires are those? Did you regear for the 315's?

very nice setup there... I bet the son loves it

I have the same color & was thinking about 315s. That seals it. I've gotta have them. WELCOME! -Andy

Show those Rangers and the Scouts what a Cruiser can do! Take them, and it, to some more difficult places. Welcome to the forum!:flipoff2:

I used a kit from Man-A-Fre, 3" OME J and 4+plus arm brackets, p/n 803-FRABKIT.
Tires are Yokohama's Geolander M/T+. We sell quite a few brands at the dealership and have grown to like tho Yoko's quite a bit. I wasn't thrilled with the directional tread but they balanced with very little weight. Very good road manners too. I have no ride issues at all, no vibration.
