hey all,
new to this forum, just joined today. I'm a Tacoma driver, but have been planning and researching to buy my first FJ62 . waiting to find the right one. This place seems to be a wealth of information and a great group of folks. I'm on several other auto forums such as Tacomaworld, and JalopyJournal.

There’s a sweet 60 on CL right now for 10k.

Welcome… I’m in the East Bay. Oakland Hills.
i see a few on there :) i'm hoping to find one that is either up to trade straight across for my tacoma, one that needs NOTHING. a well sorted out machine, like the one in atlanta here on classifieds.

or.....if i could find one that is in great condition, but for around $20k max, so i could have funds left over to upgrade the running gear. I'd love to do an LS/4L60E swap to bring the old wagon into current highway speeds and better gas mileage/power/ all of it. I know that may be sacrilege to alot of the FJ community, but I wanna make it more driveable/enjoyable. what are your thoughts on running gear swaps on these wagons?

As long as you have another vehicle. Unless you have a brand new motor swap these things will typically need to be down for some time at times.
yeah we have three vehicles, down to two i if get rid of my tacoma so we good. im what you could call a gearhead, so i don't imagine any vehicle i own would be down for long at all. i grew up helping my dad rebuild engines at the age of 10. I've done all my own engine work on everything from dirt bikes, to MGB gts, BMW's model a ford roadsters etc. Not a mechanic, I have a full time career, but the only thing i cant do in my garage is machine work / lathe work.

lol yeah i have been on the fence with my Tacoma for a long time. I don't want to get rid of it, but i want an FJ62 more and have to choose..... as soon as i get rid of it, i'll be crying cause i don't have a truck bed anymore. i know it.

I’ve got at least two of everything… 2 LS430’s, 2 BMW E90’s (one is an e91), 2 Toyota’s trucks, (Tacoma/fj60)… 3 Scooters, (vespa 150, elite 250, Yamaha majesty 400) I’m the wrong guy to talk to when it comes to getting rid of stuff. 🤦🏽‍♂️

So what’s the story on the Atlanta machine? That’s a direct flight from where you are. Some guys
get hooked on that quad headlight thing, can’t let it go. My opinion is don’t wait around asking
questions from opinions. You seem to know your own way, if the truck fits go for it. As we all
know it’s going to cost extra for some reason, but we all have a ‘black ops’ budget tucked away.

Oh yeah! I’ve reached out so we’ll see what happens. Im not expecting a miracle but who knows! If it goes elsewhere it wasn’t meant to be- doesnt mean i won’t be sad though lol

Welcome to Mud, there are a lot of great people on here that will encourage your obsession. I’m in the South Bay.

I have been daily driving my FJ60 for the past year and a half but I don’t have a long commute either.

Hey all! Welcome Dark! Santa Clara county here also. I don't see many 60's on the street. Purchased my 1985 in 1989 for about $4,000! It was clean and all service documented. My daily driver (40 miles each way) up until about 12 or so years ago when I had twins. Now it's time to get it back on the road. Any recommendations for a good mechanic to give her a once over and smog? I'm also looking for body and paint. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple out of state LC specialists, but local shops appreciated if they know older LC's.
