Hello all, new LC owner in Raleigh and wanted to drop by and say hi. Just bought a 1993 LC with 129K miles. Been taking care of some minor leaks and cosmetic work.

Looking forward to meeting some of you all at the next meet.

Also, any nearby shops that help with suspension options? Not looking to do anything crazy, maybe some new springs and bushings to get a 1" lift. Thank you

Welcome to the area and the addiction @HankMoody. I Love your truck!

Be sure to stop by the Triangle monthly meetings every first Wednesday (7:00ish) at Backyard Bistro. @GLTHFJ60 posts up before the meeting to let everyone know that it's that time of month, so keep a look out for his post.

The change to your suspension can be handled by a shop, but you can also tackle it pretty easily. Also, if you are a member of the ONSC, you could request a HAMOM and tackle it that way. A HAMOM is Help A Member Of the Month, you could post up here and other ONSC members would be able to show up to your place at a designated date and time to help you with the suspension change. The fee for a HAMOM is usually beer and pizza, other food, or something along those lines. The suspension is surprisingly easy to change on the 80 series, especially if you aren't doing a bigger lift. The biggest thing you'd need to take into account is the state of the bolts holding everything together, penetrating oil and heat will be your friend.

I don't know that there are any reputable shops in Raleigh that I would suggest for suspension. Especially when it comes to Toyotas. There are probably two shops that do suspension and I wouldn't want them working on my truck. Installing a lift on an 80 is somewhat straightforward, if you only want an inch or two. It's something you could knock out on your own if you have a floor jack, some jack stands, and basic tools.

@4LowandSlow are you looking to pick up side jobs?

Garret does work on some members trucks occasionally and would be able to knock out a suspension with no problem. But I know he has projects of his own, so he might not have the bandwidth.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the addiction!

Welcome

Welcome. Renaissance Auto in Cary could install that lift pretty easily or you could have a HAMON.

Amazing truck you found with low miles. Did you find that 80 in Raleigh? So clean!

How soon are you looking to put on the lift ? I am around for a few more weeks. I can help and teach you a few things about your 80.

Take this man up on this offer if you can. He knows a thing or two about Cruisers!

I found the truck from a dealer in KY, owner had for about a year, LC has been in TX for most of its life.

Apprecaite it! I'll have to take you up on your offer. Still shopping around and it appears some may be on lengthy lead-time. Will keep you posted! Thanks again

Welcome!!

Become a club member and come out to the monthly meetings. There is a lot of knowledgeable guys in the club that you can learn a lot from by just talking to them.

@HankMoody it seems you have decided on a direction for your lift/level. @SFROMAN made a great suggestion. Join the club, come on in, the waters fine. A HAMOM is a great way to meet some of the ONSC members and work on your rig. I joined a few years ago, even though I am hours away. It’s a great club filled with all kinds of people.

HAMON, Help A Member Of ?? . Not sure what the N means but you have experts in this club. Welcome, lots of knowledge and great people in this club. Most do it them selves or ask for help. Very few use outside resources unless they need it done fast or its beyond their abilities. Very nice cruiser BTW

I put N and it is M. Help a member of the month. And yes the crew are experts. Very lucky to have these resources around.
