Hi,

I have recently had new (standard) springs/shocks/shackles/bushes installed on my 61. Since then the springs seem to be moving around heaps, when I say moving around I mean in height. When they were first installed they were at 315mm from the bottom of the wheel arch to the top of the rim. During the last few weeks they have dropped to 285mm, the strange thing is that only one side has dropped to this degree. The drivers side (right for us ozzies) is still at 305..

Should new springs move this much? and should they drop this quick?

Thx

New springs do settle in. It seems that there are differences in how much, and how fast though. Your time/amount don't seem out of ordinary. Try getting the truck to really flex the axles, side to side, crossed up so to speak. This will help set them in quickly. There is a well-known "cruiser lean" which many suffer from (or enjoy, depending on your point of view.) Their is a tech article on CCOT website that gives the fix. Also, make sure to have the u-bolts re-torqued w/in 500 miles, and again at 2000 or so. They loosen up.

Cheers man...

I might add that the off-roading I have done since having them fitted also produces a change in height/lean....

I would like to look at the link you mentioned...CCOT ???

thx

My FJ 40 rode very level till I had to replace a dented front left fender. When I took out the frame bolt that held the fender to the frame there was a slight poping sound and the frame setteled to the 1.5 inch drag in the left rear. Never did get the fender to fit right as the bolt hole was 1" off and the sag was there to stay. Should have gone to the shop to get the spacer.
