Cool, all the help is really appreciated. My video game freak son is going to be there so you guys can put him to work. He needs to learn how it is to work!

That's what I'm thinking... I'm just leaving enough time in case we have to do a parts store run or break a bolt or something.

I think we'll be fine, if I can swap out a trans by myself in a day we aught to have this whipped by noon... Plus I'm probably bringing another set of hands to help out.

I'm leaving SoCal Friday and should be pulling in that area around 4P.M. or so Saturday, weather permitting. What is the probability of snow? I have cables for driving in the snow. Weather Channel is a little sparse on conditions.
I would hate to miss the wrenching party!

Danny, hate to say this but they are predicting a cold front for the weekend. I think overnights around 25. You shouldn't have any problem, they keep the 5 pretty clear. You still planning on overnighting in Redding? And hey, we can find something for you to wrench on if you feel compelled to do so! I've got a replacement rear hatch and a driver's side headlight bezel that need to go on, etc. etc. etc.........:D

That'll be lots of giving for thanksgiving. Props!

Seals on order from Lithia. I'll get the rest from Napa Friday when I get paid. Without calling, who can guess what the price for the rear main seal is?

If you want to save a few bones I can go with you/ for you to Shucks I get a military discount there....

Thanks appreciate the offer but Lithia's already got my money. Supposed to pick them up tomorrow. Hey, finally figured you out-We work in the same building. Didn't see the FJ out front but did see the Forunner. I wondered where the Navy had an outpost in So-Oregon!

No S#!*! thats Funny!

Also don't forget engine oil + and oil filter. The Optima actually registered on the charge meter today so I'm not positive you will need a new battery. According to the charger it is taking a heavy charge but I would have thought it'd be done by now. I'll let you know tomorrow when I pull it off tomorrow and try to start it without the charger on it.

The reason I'm shooting for an 8am start time is I am hosting a Thanksgiving going-away party at 6pm for a friend that is going to Afghanistan as a cartographer for the government. Needless to say I have a lot of cooking that needs to be done that day and then a lot of people coming over that evening... but I figure I had just enough time to swap out a transmission before that.

My god that's alot of stuff for one day. I'll pre-run the route to your place the night before so I'll know how to get them burritos over there early and Hot! Thanks Jesse.

Oh crap are we pulling the pan off either the tranny or the engine? Do I need those gaskets? Schucks or even Lithia may not have those on Saturday. ??

You must have a Superman outfit on under those clothes!

Keep me posted as to the actual weather conditions. You know how those weathermen are.
It's a foggy 50* here in Ventura. The ocean air is getting wetter!
See you soon. :steer:

It would not hurt to get the gaskets, in case we find a leak...

There's no super man suit under Jesse's clothes, it's a full body tatoo....

I believe that's a good idea(the gaskets, not the full body tatoo)! I'll inquire tomorrow when I pick up the seals. Sold plasma tonight, guess I'll have to do it again Friday too.:D

Lactose intolarance...

Is anyone planning on chowing down on those breakfast burritos lactos-intolerant ?? If no-one chimes in I'll be putting cheese on those, lots of cheese. Let me know if you need Cheese-Free Burros!:popcorn:

Also... what brand/grade of oil would you recommend for my 3FE with 212K miles on it??? That should start a debate !!

If you're really worried about the engine you might go with some high mileage stuff but I haven't found any real differences between brands and even no "real" differences with the synthetics other than they make leaks worse.

Pretty much my thoughts. That motor has a few loose valves but still runs well and no leaks at all. Just a little pooped out. Hasn't had a good tune-up in years.

I would est. on about 6 gents.

Cheese pls :D

Picked up today- ATF, RTV, Case of oil, filter, gallon of gear oil, and my wife added one pine tree air freshener so she can say she helped. ;)
