Checking in...

Evenin' Boys! What a long day. I've confirmed for tomorrow. Should be back here before dark with a tranny. Hopefully useable. I will post up again when I get back. Have a swell Saturday! Keep working on a parts list for me. Hope nothing needs to be ordered from China/Japan.

Back home...

Well that's a long drive for one day. Can't hang with long drives anymore. About 5 hours is my limit. Daphne drove us home. Caught a rock and got a cracked windshield for our troubles but I did come home with a Tranny/T-case. if I knew what I was looking at I'd tell you how it looks but I don't so I'll let someone else look at it. I know, not the right way to buy stuff like this but Oh well. The fluid isn't bright red but it's not black either. I sniffed the fluid(like I'd know what to sniff for) and completed the deal. Took the kids on a whirlwind tour of portland. I'm sure it was nice but we couldn't see anything in the pouring rain. Now, out to try to get that thing in the cruiser before I hit the sack.

Follow-up...

There is NO-WAY my son and I are gonna get that THING out of my wife's van and into the cruiser. I tried everything including long 2x4's and fulcrums to lift and pivot it in. Failure. I had visions of it careening onto the concrete making today's trip worthless. My god it's heavy. I left Jesse a message on his phone and told him to call me in the morning. It's medicatrion time.....

I will be by in the am as well and we can get that thing into the cruiser :)

11:30am right?

Mucho Gras....see you guys tomorrow.

yep 11:30 in the albertsons parking lot. i'm sure we can just slide it onto the car trailer somehow. we'll get it .

Thanks Jesse. We'll be there.

Wow....feel like my only child just left to go to college! No cruiser left in the nest! What will i do??

60 and trans loaded up and headed to J's shop

Get your wrenches ready for next weekend :D

J's shop, 8am I believe.

That's hilarious! my wife basically said the same thing- Geeez, you don't even know these guys and you let them take your cruiser?? We took a couple pictures as Jesse pulled away. ;)
Please let me know specifics for next weekend. Brand of ATF, seals and gaskets etc. and I guess what, get them at Schuck's? I'll put the meals together. We're talking Saturday right?

Any problems when you got it home Jesse? I forgot to tell you if and when you try to start it you may have to hold the key in the "start" position while you jiggle the shift lever. The neutral safety switch is mis-adjusted/loose or broken. Call me if you need anything. I'd like to go after work tomorrow and get some of what we need. There's a Napa nearby, how are they compared to Schuck's??

BTW, my # at work is 541-779-0068. You can get ahold of me there most of the time or leave a message. My lunch break is from 11:00-12:00 .

Wish I knew more Chris on what is all needed. Sure some of the other guys will chime in....

I typically try/shop Napa before Shucks. If I have time I usually call American Toyota (New Mexico)nand ask for Dan or Onur for OEM stuff. They provide a good discount for mud members.

No problems, hooked it up to the Pig so I could maneuver the trailer around in my driveway better and because two cruisers look better in a picture than just one. Then my Pig had to sniff it out to make sure it wasn't a Jeep I brought home.

Your Optima is dead which is why it won't restart. It doesn't appear to want to take a charge so I will leave it hooked up over night to see if it revives itself, otherwise you need a new battery.

List of things you will need for next weekend :bounce2:
1. engine rear main seal
2. torque converter seal (might as well)
3. ATF 7 quarts or so from what I read (ask the guys at Napa)
4. Gear oil, 1 gallon. I have a pump so you just need the jug.
5. RTV sealant for the oil pan.
6. New battery (I'll keep you posted on it)

Copy all that! Hey look- my rig's higher than that Pig of your's(until you take it off the trailer). I'll get started on supplies tomorrow after work. Thanks guys!

Sweet! Chris, looks like your in good hands  I'll be there Saturday to meet/watch/relax after my little road trip. :D
Can't wait! When you going to lift that as high as the pig?
You guys rock! Thanks from me for helping out. We miss Chris down this ways...
