nice looking Prado. love the new steering wheel

Nice additions! I've been itching to change the shift knobs as well!

Really digging these. Scored that wheel off Amazon Japan for ¥8000! Snagged it and went back and it was immediately back up to ¥40,000-ish. Crazy.

Anyhow, it’s all coming together slowly. Lift pieces are coming in.

Dobinsons 3” lift, adjustable end links and adjustable Panhard bar all on the way. Now the inevitable wait.
Installing everything next month. Pics to follow.

All parts for the lift have been accumulated. However, I started with the audio portion of my build first. First up is the 3way front stage. Pillars and sail fabrication done. Just need to be wrapped. Doors are done as well. Baffles for the mid bass were built from white birch and are heavily deadened. A couple teaser pics from the process.

The 3way front stage speakers are all Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia SE series components.

More updates to come soon!

Looking great!!

Slightly late question but what nuts did you end up using on your new wheels? My Level 8's are finally ready for mounting but the "race studs" I got last week were all lock-style and the lock was thicker than the holes for the nuts sooooo no locks for me. Anyhow, the reason I ask is I ordered another set with the right thread pitch and all that but the OEM studs seem waaay short and I wasn't able to find any extended thread nuts locally. (Lots available in the US but I really need to get these wheels on before heading to Niigata so...)

I’m not exactly sure to be honest. I got a black locking set from Fuji Corp same time I ordered the wheels.

Some updates. The front stage of the build is wrapped up. Headunit and processing going in and then on the rear.

Not the greatest pics. I’ll get more with better light. Also need to track down some blacks handles. I think I may have sold that problem though. Fingers crossed and updates later.

Very clean!!

You might be in the same boat as me then. The level 8's I got are at least hubcentric which means less stress on the studs to begin with but I think I'll order some extended threads in the US and bring them back next time I'm there.

Making steady progress on the audio build. Wiring under hood done. Custom aluminum bracket built for fuse blocks and wire runs. Big 3 upgrade done. SQ deck and external DAC installed in the dash. As well as, (4) Arc Audio ALD balanced line drivers installed under the driver seat. Custom balanced cables made using industrial cat8 connector and cable.

Next up is the rear amp rack and sub enclosure. Then the full lift kit goes in week after next. Seeing the end!

And I forgot one important thing...to me. I was able to retain all Audio steering wheel controls to my head unit. The Mode button even turns the deck on and off. Bonus.

Did you upgrade the alt to power all that? The GX factory alt only has a spare 40A so I had to go up to support off-road mods plus the 60A stereo circuit I put in (Alpine and JLAudio)

No I didn’t. My last install used the same equipment with the stock alternator in a Toyota Alphard, larger sized mini-van. No issues whatsoever. The Big 3 upgrade helped with that along with a really good battery. If it comes down to an alternator upgrade down the road, then so be it. Not to mention, I barely crack the gains on these amps.

It took a while but, the new lift is in as well as the audio project. Still need to fabricate beauty panels for the rear sub and amp rack.

Lift is a Dobinsons 3inch kit with Dobinsons adjustable Panhard bar, end links and SPC UCA’s. 265/70/17 Nitto TG’s.

Some changes along the way with Prado. Went up to 285s, added a side awning, new amps and sub build. Built a platform to hide it all and make it useful. Doubles as a sleep platform. Odds and ins here and there. Still going strong.
