Couple things-
Bought a 02 LX the other day, having owned several Toyotas over the years I can say WOW, its nice to finally have plenty of power.

Anyway, the LX is way more comfortable than I am used to, I had a 83 FJ60 for about 5 years, then a 93 80 series.

So couple things I am looking for- I need a DS headlamp mine has two big rock chips and is leaking. Looks like its about 350.00 for a new one, any other ideas?

I have ordered ARB bumpers, front is waiting for pick up in Renton. The rear is on a ship I guess, Looking for pics of a ARB rear one a Black LX/LC with left side tire carrier, Anyone help with that???

I have a pic of a Black LC with a ARB and no carriers and that looks really clean. Just trying to decide, which I like more.

Going ARB because, I won't have any shipping costs. Bumpers from another source were going to cost almost 500.00 for shipping.

Coming from the dark ages, of a 60 and 80 series the electric gizmos concern me, I like the way the mirrors adjust when up put it in reverse but whats that cost to fix. YIKES

Also need ball park value on these wheels and tires----------------- Tires are like new (I know, not some thing most here are interested in buying but what are the rims worth?? ))

Spent quite a bit of time searching for a pic of a ARB rear with a drivers side tire holder and nothing on the pass side. I have a pic of a ARB rear with no swings- just looking for one on a hopefully black or dark LX/LC

figured out my other Q's with search

I have an 02 lx also, already got the front ARB Sahara mounted, held off on rear ARB bumper because of ahc overloading issues or until I rip out ahc for after market lift.

Having said that, let me know how the ahc handles both ARB bumpers, I am assuming that you will still have AHC after installation.

Don't mean to hijack the thread...

Is the rear ARB bumper as heavy as the front one? Will installing both the front and the rear ARBs overload the AHC? Just curious bec I just got the ARB combo on mine and looking to add the ARB rear bumper as well.

Its a good bit heavier than the front. Most of your rear bumpers are in the 150 range with out swingouts, and 200-250 with dual swing outs. I forget what the weight is on the ARB rear with dual swing outs but it is one of the heavier ones.

Headed to pick up my new front bumper today- rear won't arrive state side until 9-30

Hate to bump my own thread but- after looking at the headlight it appears the lens is replaceable. I have been searching for a part number for the lens only with no luck any one have the P/N?

My lens on my LC also busted from a big rock. Left a 1/8" hole. I dried it the best I could to get rid of all the water inside of the housing. Then simply took a 3M clearbra film and put two patches over it. That was 2 years ago and no peeling or water present in the housing.

I got the film from a local tint shop for $5. It was maybe 6"x12" piece.

Here is a pic of my '98 white LC with right side carrier, not sure if it helps.

You will be pleased with the bumpers, I love my front and rear, they have saved me plenty of times.

I am trying to decide between no swings and single driver side swing. That pic helps, do you have any from the side showing rear tire and bumper?

The ones on the ARB side are poor, I think they should have pictures showing the different options.

PM sent on the Tundra wheels

Thanks for the tip on ebay, bought one today, I had searched before, from my phone didn't see anything.

OK- so as I search thru threads for tech info I find many of the older ones are locked. In particular I have a question about rebuilt CV's for 50.00?

It seem that in a couple of threads, rebuilt CV's are or were about 50.00?

The other thing I have seen, is factory front axles for 230.00. I know, I read it however the best price I have found is like 350.00

and last but not least- I read that the Throttle Bodies are interchangeable with certain year Tundras, are there any other parts that will interchange with other models?

Why, are the older threads locked ? I had a question about one of them and wanted to bump it back to page one.

I have made a limited amount of progress on my rig, the 03 + bar is installed. The ARB rear is sitting in my garage, may get a chance to install tomorrow.

Yes, there is a factory CV rebuild kit that includes two new boots, two tubes of lube, and new factory style clamps. One kit is enough for one entire axle, same kit part number for either driver or passenger side. I would highly recommend you toss the new factory clamps in the trash, and order some high quality ones from McMaster Carr. It will save you tons of cursing and insure the new boots don't leak for a very long time.

You are seeing two different prices, for two different parts and sources. The $230 price is going down a local auto parts store like Autozone/Oreilys/etc and getting their third party reman axles. The more expensive is from a Toyota dealer. I highly recommend the latter, not something you want to mess around with especially if you spend time in the mountains. Broken front axle is no fun on the trail.

I'm local, if you need some help/advice let me know. I just did all of the above myself recently.

Are the reman axles really that bad? Ones at Autozone are $60. Now, if they're reman, wouldn't some have to be OEM axles? They ask for the old axle when you buy one. I've used them in my cars, but not on trucks. One big positive (aside from price) is they have a lifetime warranty. But if they're going to bust on every outing, that would not be ideal. But you can buy two spare axles and still come out on top vs. OEM...

Order a new OEM CV axle from cdan and you don't have to question your rig out in the wilderness. I bought a new OEM CV from Dan 2 years ago. My old original CV sat on a shelf to 2 years until I broke the "new" (30K) a few weeks ago. I was hesitant to put a 11 year old/140,000 mile axle that hasn't moved in 2 years back in. I rebuilt it and swapped it...runs like new.

FYI: I drove on a OEM CV with a cracked inner housing, no boot, shattered shaft at the outboard joint, and missing 4 of the 6 bearings on the inboard joint for ~400 highway miles and didn't even notice it (honestly couldn't tell). I got to my neighborhood and rolled down the windows and heard the racket. I finally lost all the bearings and had to get it replaced ASAP. Just a testament to how much abuse and heat these things can take. Nothing like an air cooled CV axle.

Driving to the mall and back, sure go with the cheapos from AutoZone. Spending time up in the mountains and on the trails? Well, I would cut corners on something that gets you home.

One of the members here (I think it may be spressomon) has gone through 3-4 of the cheap axles proving they don't hold up. Lifetime warranty is great in all, if you like to constantly change them and get stranded.

Yes they are that bad. Search will turn up reports of leaking CV joints under 5000 miles. The inner joints are lightweight tri-lobes fit for a Honda Civic. They are rubbish.
The best rebuild option is http://cvaxleexpress.com/index.html in Utah that will rebuild with OE parts for $99 per axle. Good choice if you have around a week to cover shipping and rebuild time.

As I continue learning about the many extra features on my LX.

I have come across a few more issues. First the AM radio reception is horrid. Not a big fan of the Seahawks but it would be nice to be able to hear them getting their butts kicked.

Second is the sunroof is leaking, not from clogged drains. It appears to leak from under the black trim pieces under the roof glass. Anyone dig into that area?
