sup guys I have a 2002 Land Cruiser and I want to off road with it (i just got my license a few months ago). I need tips and suggestions on upgrades to make it "off road ready". I am thinking that I want to raise it 4'' and put 20'' wheels and a skid plate. But again I really don't know anything so let me know what you guys think please. thanks

remove the running boards and throw some 285's on it. You are set. You are limited to 2.75" of lift upfront, which will also limit you to 3" in the back (this is the MAXIMUM lift). Congrats on the new ride! Post some pictures when you get a chance  :beer....oh wait :flipoff2:

Welcome!

There are plenty of folks here off roading nearly stock 100's. Wrap some All Terrains (e.g. BFG AT KO, Nitto Terra Grappler, Goodyear Duratrac) around a set of OEM 16" or 18" wheels, remove the running boards and install your favorite brand and style of slider, and call it a day.

Good luck with the build!

I like the 4" lift and 20" wheel idea. You should do that. Post pictures when you do.

If your gonna take it off road stay away from 20" wheels. Stick with the factory 16" wheels and put on some 33's or you can upgrade to 18s off the newer cruisers or find some 07+ tundra 18" rims and your good to go. Post some pics. Oh and :flipoff2:

Think real hard about what kind of offroading you want to do. Then think about what modifications need to happen first. Read some build threads. I would not be in a hurry it seems like you have lots of time.

and Don't drill holes in your hood to mount lights.....

Extreeeeeme. That looks scary. Nothing like lowing the suspension v lifting the truck.

At 16 yrs old you may want to save for gas.

Ditto. I remember high school and filling up twice a week and gas was under a buck a gallon then.

I was wondering where the age comments were hiding. Obviously, if this "kid" has a 2002 LC at 16, fuel costs are *probably* not a paramount concern for him. Why not keep the conversation on topic? It interests me to see suggestions given from a standpoint of someone fresh into the hobby, as I don't know much about it either.
