Thanks Tommy- Dont forget to add the Winchester Deer sticker- I swear they give them out somewhere. Sylva is great though- I am happy to see all the toyota trucks up here.

How rough is it - The Taco is going to my wife after we sell her 4runner and you know how wives are ...

Can I take some light routes (read fire roads etc? alternate non damage routes?) I may bring the Ranger up there if it is too hairy. let me know

There are plenty of roads and trails you can drive at Cullowhee that are very mild to mild. If you want to ride anything a little bit harder you can always hop in an open seat.

alex i thought about cutting the back off the fj62 and installing a dawg box and k40....:)

That's too damn funny! :hillbilly:

You remember climbing that hill beside our house when you lived with crazy wendy?!!

Well as long as shes not drivin, the taco should be fine :D kidding, youd be fine on caney fork and moses creek ( or church short cut ) but i dont know which days wed be on these trails. But there is definately some trails you could enjoy in it. Bear Camp and the last 200 yrds to the upper bald are only areas id worry about some pinstriping but winter is the best time to go to avoid it.

just dont take this line

all is well, thats my taco. bad line, good recovery. noone got through the pit that year w/out assistance.

J, you need to take the taco now that it's lifted and has better tires!! Your 80 makes cullowhee look like a parking lot.

welcome aboard . . . there's no turning back now

Well maybe if I can get a reliable shipping company to pick the thing up. Apparently there areant alot of truckers going from Flagstaff AZ to NC-
Can anyone recommend a good shipping company?

There's a trucking company I used a few years ago based in Waynesville, it's called Fern Trucking. The guys last name is Fernandez. Super nice guy, got my car here quick and was cheap. I'll look for his card today, but you might try the phone book... HTH

UM there is a major interstate b/w those two.....lots of carriers running on 40. Ive been talking to Kiwi Karriers after hearing good things. I requested a quote online (not kiwi, just in general and got 10 different responses) and now get bombarded w/ emails daily from different folks. Lots of subcontracting b/w carriers!!!! i aimed for the small family owned and operated.

good luck

Check your MudShip post, I may be able to help.

I wanted to keep you guys up to date on where I am at on this project- (if you care)

I hired another shipping company and truck is being picked up Sunday- will be here in a week.

Now for the part I think most of you will be interested in...

if you knew me, you would know that I really do not do anything half a**ed.
So here is my parts list:
ARB Bull Bar
OME 4" w/shackle reversal
Black magic Hella lights
rear supports for lift gates- PO told me they were bad
Eastwood chassis restoration kit- There is not rust- but I want it to look perfect and ensure no rust starts
H55F 5 speed- this is the one I am most excited about
IPOR Procar front seats in black
Cruiserparts.net Black front Grill and headlight doors- Black window sills
Gray FJ62 Mirrors from CCOT
All chrome except door handles will be removed-
Still thinking about rear bumper( KAymar?) I want to relocate the rear tire. any ideas?
MAF dash pad

All work is being done at Merriam automotive in Duluth Ga- (Thanks Keil!!) Peter is a great guy and is VERY knowledgable about LC's. Thanks to all here with the helpful ideas and suggestions.
interior will be done later- I am thinking of switching out the carpet for that diamond plate look poly flooring from Spectre.

Once mechanicals are done (Power steering- front end work)
It will go to paint and get repainted the factory gun metal color- I thought of doing Lexus Smoky Granite Mica- but I have to much respect for these cars and want it to remain as close to original as possible. I will document the transformation with photos and will have it out at cullowhee when done.

I am still on the fence as far as paint shops- I would like to get it back closer to home after mechanicals so I can monitor progress.

My goals for this project are to make a reliable family/DD vehicle that looks damn good and drives even better. I have owned many Toyota's and am militant in my maintenance. I am having a garage built just for this vehicle- It will only see light trail duty with no body damage risk.

Any further help/suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
