Just picked up my 97 lx450 this morning. I’m beyong excited to finally have one after wanting one for a long time. I looked at the registration for the club thread but it was a few years old so I was wondering how do I become a member of the club? And am I allowed to join if I’m still a high school student?

Other than that, I saw another 80 owner on my first drive on providence and we both waved at each other and I smiled for probably 10 minutes. That doesn’t happen in an f-150 :D

I’m also gonna make sure I get to the rescheduled Logan’s run whenever it happens. I really wanna get plugged into the cruiser community!

Here’s some pics

Welcome. Thats a nice rig you scored there. And slinky coils first. You are spoiled. Enjoy the ride.

Welcome. Nice rig...Can’t beat that 4x4 Labs bumper in the rear, what’s up front?

Haha I was gonna wait a little longer to show up front but since you asked...

It’s not really anything. My plan is to eventually either weld up a front bumper to keep the winch plate or just go for the Slee short bus. Depends on how long I’m willing to wait to save up. Painting is gonna get done this weekend to match the rest of the truck.

Who’s going to do the paint?

I’ve talked to a couple places but if you have any sugggestions I’d love to hear them!

Wait, I just realized that’s the 80 that was at Gosset’s nursery correct?

Correct! He decided he wanted another 4runner

So you’re getting it painted this weekend but you don’t have a shop nailed down yet? Mmmkay. Well let us know how it goes. We local folks are always looking for a shop that will take non-insurance work like this. Good ones are hard to find.

i will be the local guy giving the thumbs up from a sequoia

I was hoping to get it worked out by the end of the day, and if I can’t get it this weekend I’ll do it next weekend. I think it looks great even with the mismatched paint so I’m not super worried.

Nice to see a local truck go to someone clearly passionate about the vehicle. Welcome aboard. Look forward to seeing it up close. Make sure you hit a few local meetings as time permits. Good to have you here.

I'll make it whenever I can. I really am excited to be able to get to know cruisers better and the people that share the same passion!

Dropped the LX off to get painted today. Nice old guy out in Matthews doing it out of his garage. Been doing it for over 50 years and showed me how it looked on his cars so I think he'll do a good job.

He charged 550 for the hood and fender, along with blending it onto the drivers side front door. Was quoted 2000 somewhere else so I think his price is definitely reasonable. I'll put pictures up here when I pick it up Sunday.

I'm now deciding what type of front bumper I want. I love the looks of the arb and slee but for a thousand dollars I'm not sure if I can justify it. I think I'll end up going with the trail gear one because it's only 470 and definitely looks better than just a winch plate.

I think I'm just gonna use this as a little bit of a build thread now, just to keep track of everything I do to the truck.
