Just picked up a 2004 LX to add to the stable. It only has 67,000 miles on it. Thing looks brand new. It has two issues. 1 - The subwoofer is blown (no biggie). 2 - The oil pressure reads much lower at speed than our 2000 LX with 200,000 miles. Any thoughts?

Do you know the weight and type of oil in the crankcase? Could be a lower viscosity than your other truck.

I have also had oil pressure problems with various filters. I only use OEM for all my cars now.

Could this year have a problem with the slow reacting gauges like the LS 400 gas gauge?

The dealer just changed the oil, but I am not sure what they used.

Bump - Any other thoughts. Not sure whether to ignore it and keep driving or head to the shop.

At idle it is just at the first quarter mark. At speed it is about a indicator width below the half mark. Out 2000 is at the 3/4 mark at speed. That is what worries me.

My '06 is always under the half mark. Pretty much the same as your picture. I bought it a year and a half ago with 65k. It has 93k miles now and it runs fine. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

These gauges is far from the most precice around.
Check it with a proper oil pressure gauge and sleep well.

My 2004 is the same. This is within normal range. Check your manual, and it will confirm this.

Thanks for all the replies. For piece of mind, I'll have my mechanic throw a mechanical gauge on it to make sure.

Watched this when I started cold this morning. It did something interesting. Start engine, gauge need climbed to 1/4 mark, paused, then climbed a need width above the half mark, then immediately dropped to the half mark, where it stayed until the car warmed, and then it dropped back to the quarter mark at idle. It almost looked like a bypass opened up, first at the quarter mark, and then at the half mark. Yes, this is freaking me out a bit.

My 03 does that.
