Hello gents,
I recently got my first 80 series, a 94. I've had Jeeps in the past and know Uwharrie like the back of my hand, but I really like the 80 and it's build quality. Looking to join the club once I get mine running again and ready for the summer wheeling season.
Which leads me to the advice needed. After I picked mine up a month ago, and after spending close to $1k on maintenance and replacement parts, my head gasket blew between cylinders 4&5... I dont think the PO knew what coolant was?
Anyways, what can I reasonably expect to pay for someone to fix it around Charlotte versus doing it myself? I am also debating whether or not to buy a new/rebuild crate engine and just drop that in. My engine has 210k miles, so including all the other things to replace while I'm in there, I'm estimating it will only be a few hundred bucks more to just buy a rebuilt engine.
I definitely dont want to dive in to a swap with it. I just want to get going on the trails...
Cheers,
Matt
