Since I am stuck around the house I decided to attack the Troopie and put some shackles on it and remove 4 leafs from each side in the rear. Rides like a haywagon with that 9 leaf pack 3 of which are 1/2 inch overloads. It came out even and lifted about 2 inchs. I used 4 degree shims in the front and it seems to be doing all right.

Its good to see a local Troopie - Im sure it rides better without the 9 leafs  in the rear :D

I read about troopies all the time, but this is still the only one I have seen in person. I know there are some about I just don't see them. You can't miss mine it leaves a trail of black diesel smoke every where it goes. I make a point of getting in front of Subaru's and Prius' and laying on the black smoke just to let them know that I have effectively eliminated their greenness in a single trip across town. I should get it fixed so it will quit doing that, but just haven't figured what to do quite yet. I have been running it for 4 years now and it hasn't missed a lick. Takes a few tries to get it fired up once it gets below 35 though.

Okay everything not perfect. I have a vibration in the rear between 90-100Km. I figure maybe need to shim rear pinion to since I changed the angle some. All opinions welcome. I don't want to tear it apart again until I am fairly sure what the prob is.

Thanks for your time.

:Q_

id trade my 40 for a troopie any day

I'm wasting your carbon savings

I have effectively eliminated their greenness in a single trip across town.

I have the same thought everytime someone gets behind me in my 60. Have thought about putting some rude bumper sticker on there for just that reason.

My first test is to grease the u-joints. If the noise is less or gone the problem is found, if it makes no difference, it is likely something else.

Driveline yoke, u-joints all new?

Not new, but in fine shape and greased. It just started after the the suspension mod. I wouldn't think a drive shaft that long would be so sensitive to a slight variation. The diff. is turned up slightly and other than that I don't know what would be different. The vibration is pretty bad, but you would know it was there until 90Km and then it feels like a shiatsu chair.

I'd get under there and horse up and down on the rear shaft just to totally eliminate any question there. Changing the angle on the diff may find a sloppy spot in the slip yoke that may not have exhisted at the old angle. (Double check that it is not bottomed out as well).:meh:
If not, it wouldn't hurt to give Mark a call.

Howdy! You may need to add a 2 or 3 degree shim to the rear also. Ideally, you want the pinion shaft to be parallel with the transfer case output shaft, plus or minus a degree or two. John

not natures cycles?

I was thinking "EAT MY CARBON FOOTPRINT" Plus some other expletive, deleted
