New guy here. Name is Mike and I live in Clayton. I purchased a 93 Land Cruiser a couple weeks ago. It is a real basket case, unloved truck that was listed on Raleigh Craigslist a couple weeks ago (green and gold). Interior is trashed, birfs need rebuild, suspension is original (228k), has some hack wiring, oil leaks and the paint is rough (there's more but that's all I can think of right now). Someone along the way had a large supply of wood screws that they liked to use to hold various things together. It is a 93 with a 97 motor in it with a reportedly 130k on the motor, but there is no documentation on when/why the new engine was put it.

Yes. I'm crazy, but I bought it to try and bring it back to life myself, as much as I can afford to. I'm thinking long term build. I have a fair amount of mechanical ability and decent tools. It's headed to a paint shop for a minor refresh next week. I had heard about this site and am going to need all the wisdom I can get as I begin this build.

I look forward to being part of the TLC community.

Welcome to mud and ONSC! While I don't have an 80, I hear the 80's tech section is a great resource. Be sure to check out the Logan's Run thread and consider joining us for our biggest event of the year.

Welcome mike. At least that trailer hitch is in good shape ;)

Don't dispair lots of knowledge on the main board and you have the distinct privilege of having a Lexus heart transplant. Such a "rare" beast is surely worthy of resurrection.

The hitch is good, but the wiring is in need of repair. You must have had the pleasure of viewing this truck and probably ran the other way.:grinpimp:

Welcome Mike! Like @JohnVee said above, we've got a meeting today that you're more than welcome to come out to! Looking forward to meeting you

Welcome Mike! I have a Jeep buddy that lives out in Clayton. A couple of us are in the Holly Springs / Fuquay area.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I won't be able to make the meeting tonight, but will try and go to the meeting in September.

I work in Clayton, so if you see a lifted black FZJ80 with roof rack, lights, and ARB bumper or a John Deere green FJ40, it's me!
