For the last 10-12 years I've been enjoying fast or fun two seaters, I have a 2nd gen supercharged Miata, a 2nd gen Porsche Cayman, and my daily is an RSX Type S, but before all that I was a full size Jeep guy. I had an 84 Wagoneer, a 79 Cherokee (both lifted) and then a 97 TJ Wrangler (POS) before falling into a 97 4Runner that I kept for 15 years and regretted selling ever since. So I went looking for a similar replacement and found an awesome 94 LC that had been the family hunting/fishing/camping vehicle, it's far from perfect but it's a rust free southern truck and will be a great family adventure vehicle for us. I have no significant plans yet, not trying to make it some overland rig or push the boundaries on lift/flex, just really happy to be back in a solid Toyota truck. Lots of maintenance and baseline work ahead of me but happy to zbe here and more excited about this 80 than I probably should be.

Welcome to MUD!

Looks like a solid rig...93-94 versions are great...I love my 94 and I think it will be my forever toy. MUD is a fantastic resource...I read most threads in the 80 tech area even if they are not totally relevant to me as there is always something to learn that can be useful in the future.

Thanks for that, didn't know there was such a group, I'll take a look! I'm in the sandhills area bouncing around Moore, Hoke, and Cumberland counties for the most part.
I'm on the edge of Fayetteville/Raeford.

We're practically neighbors! Hoping to have it legal and on the road by the end of the week, we'll see how that goes but I'll send a message when I do!

Side question: I've been reading about the windshield replacement issues on these and mine is cracked badly. I'm open to suggestions for a shop if you know any that will do it right

Someone else may chime in. I haven't went down that road yet. Lemme know if you need a hand with something. I'm in retirement mode so I practically don't work.

Got the 80 street legal and tagged, thankfully NC doesn't require inspection for 30 yr old vehicles anymore so that's a nice bonus to having a 94!

First drive last night showed some serious steering issues/slop at speed so I'm slowly moving through landtank's troubleshooting post, so far end links look like they should be replaced and I wouldn't be shocked if the steering box needs a rebuild, but none of that is surprising as the previous owner didn't drive it on road much. After some basic baselining (fluids, filters, spark plugs/wires) the engines just purrs right along.

Random picture for the heck of it, have always absolutely loved this body style and can't wait to get it sorted for adventures!
