Bought this FJ62 a week ago in Georgia.

First time Land Cruiser owner, fascinated by them for 4 or 5 years, looking to buy one in the last year. Always partial to the FJ62. Love the square headlights while I hear many people despise them. :meh:

Here's a few details:

-1990 FJ62 with 275k miles.

-Bought from the original owner, he gave me the receipt for the truck when bought new on January 27th, 1990. It had 000007 miles on it.

-Interesting fact, the FJ62's birthday is 5 days before mine.

-No service records, but the truck has new spark plugs, hoses, battery replaced recently, several signs that it has been taken care of.

-The body has minimal rust. Nothing rusted through on the body, the worst spots are less than 2 inches wide on the passenger rear door. Theres a few dings, dents, scratches, all to be expected from a 26 year old truck.

-The frame only has surface rust, nothing that can't be scraped away and sprayed with a rust dissolver/converter. (I think I lucked out getting a FJ62 that has lived in Georgia most of it's life.)

-Interior is kind of weird...I am going to need entirely new carpet or other type of flooring throughout while the dash has no cracks or anything, almost perfect. (I don't think he ever put in a new dash...) Headliner is perfect too only needing to be cleaned. Seats will need to be redone eventually too.

-I've had 2 professional mechanics check it out. The only problems found so far are the ones I already noticed driving it home. The tie rod end on the passenger side is shot and I need a new v-belt. (If anyone can point me to where I can buy the factory belts I would appreciate it.) Turns out my mechanic friend will change out both tie rods for $20 after I buy the parts.

I paid $4000.

Normally this is where I would say that my wife has put me in the doghouse but I'm fortunate enough to be married to someone who appreciates these relics as much as I do. Hell, she wouldn't let me leave without buying it.

And finally, we can get rid of this 1994 Camry that won't die.

Funny you say that, he is the one who provided me some more history on the truck!

And thanks, i've already gained a lot of valuable info here, looking forward to being a part of the community.

Yes it is.

Any Toyota dealer should be able to get the belts. Me, I wouldn't worry about getting genuine Toyota for this piece.

You may be able to find some used carpet in decent shape through the MUD classifieds.

Nice find!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out in the classifieds.

Trade the Camry for some 62 parts. Welcome! Nice find.

Congrats on the new to you 62:clap: What color is your 62? In the photo it looks like 60's beige

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it was the original FJ62 Beige Metallic color. The picture does not have the best lighting. I really like the color, I might do the same when I have it repainted in the future. Although, I do really like the white...
