Something is wrong because Kurt at Cruiser Outiftters has supplied many people with that OME kit and nothing has been wrong like that. Did they switch the front and rear springs? How about left-right? Are you sure that they flipped them around?

I know he got them right front and back because I had him read the part #s for the rear springs. I'm not sure if he got them on correctly left to right though. When OME says right and left in their instructions, do they mean right=passenger and left=driver?

hate to do it, but... bump

The drivers side spring should be higher when the spring pack is upside down on the floor.
OME are australian so the high side goes on the right here.
I would have thought this was in the directions by now.

Any way this would not cause the wheel to rub on the body as the axle should be more or less central on the leaf.
Either you have the wrong springs or your mechanic is doing something wrong.

The only thing I can think of is either the springs are installed backwards, or somehow they are mis-marked?

Have your mechanic call ARB with the bushing to center pin measurements, that should tell all... If I get a chance tomorrow, I will try and remember to grab the measurements, I have a set of CS004RA&B (and some of the original OME ones too) sitting on the floor...

Thanks for the advice. I spoke to him this morning and he claims to have all the springs in the right position, left, right, front and back. I asked him about the centering pin and he says all the pins and bushings all line up but the wheels are still rubbing the front of the wheel well. I suppose this could be a freak case of mismarked springs. What are the chances?!

Maybe if you could post some pics of the spring set up someone might be able to figure out what's going on?

I wish I could. Unfortunately the truck is at a shop 4 hours away. If I can't get this resolved this week I'm going to head up there this weekend and take a look/get some pics. This guy has been working on it for over a month now and I'm getting nervous that it's never going to be done (or at least not done right).

I know this thread has been going on forever, but this will hopefully be the last update. My father-in-law had a chance to take a look at the truck today, and according to him the front axle is sitting 2" too far forward and the rear axle is sitting 2" too far aft. This sounds suspiciously like the front/rear springs are backwards. This is hillarious since the mechanic that installed the kit swore he had them on correctly front to back!

Somehow this guy got the suspension on the truck finally, but he says he had to add some parts to make it work. Sounds shady but I'll get more details when I pick it up. The kicker is that he claims the bottom end is shot. He says the motor reads 4psi of oil pressure on a mech guage and the crank moves around a bunch when the clutch is depressed. Looks like it's time for a rebuild. Since the valve train is in good shape I think I'll go with a new bearing/ring/seal rebuild in-frame. This is not a good start as a new cruiser owner, but I still have faith. Good times.

Come on guys...where are the pics?

Its no fun unless we can see what you are talking about.

My advice is to find a new "Toyota Mechanic" I guarantee this will be a money pit if you do all the work yourself. Much less paying Joe Blow hard earned $ to guess on things.

Did you get the overheating fixed? What did you get done to it?

More details! And PICS!!!

I know you want pics! I'm going to pick the damn thing up next weekend and I'll finally get some pics up on here. Thanks for your patience but I haven't even seen the truck in over 2 months. I'm going to granny drive it down to Tucson and work on the rebuild from there. Oh, and I just talked to the mech again and he said he needed to supply centering pins for the rear springs. I've never heard of an OME kit installation needing new center pins, has anybody else? I might have to stab this guy when I pick it up.
