Can't sit still - MD/NC/CR
I got my first FJ!!!

It was such a good deal I couldn't pass. I even bought it at the Toyota dealership in Newark, DE from one of the mechanics. His brother in-law gave it to him, he didn't want it, and neither did anyone at the shop???? I was the happiest person buying a "new" car at the dealership that day for sure!!

So here's the deal:

~125K
Rides tight and shifts itself - a true pleasure
some rust along the bottom of doors and up in the gutters
Oil pan gasket was leaking- swapped - now the driveway seems to stay dry.
New plugs, dis. cap, wires, oil change (big filter)
starts right up 90% of the time. 10% takes a bit of patience

Coolant issue:
New thermostat/gaskets and waterpump gaskets
ran hot a couple times at idle but fan seems on 100% of the time
carb cooler works
I was told the radiator is new but I think it's clogged - top is hot - bottom cold - pre3ssure really builds in the top rad. hose.

could a drooping hood insulation cause overheatingissues?

Have a look. Maybe you know or are the original owner! She came from Washington last fall.

That's the idea. Good ole OME will help a lot! The 225 tires gotta go.

The plan is to get the engine 100% (The drivetrain is already there) then take her down to Costa and give her a new look, name and life!!

Pura Vida!!!

I like the look of it - it's like one of those old school station wagons but on steroids. Some suspension work is definitely in order, and a surf board on top.

Hey, Nichols - 0 - Mortis, what wheel type and size/tire size/suspension do you have on that top pic? That is a great looking setup, the same proportions I am looking for

errr, not a hijack, it's still talking about, umm, well, hell, probably was a hijack, sorry.

But would still like the info.

The tires were Goodyear Wranglers 33x12.5" on 8.5x15" aluminum rims (with my 3.73s, that was my favourite gear/tire combo).

The suspension would be considered a 2.5" lift equivalent, but this was at my early stages of LandCruisering...re-arched springs with add-a-leafs from the local spring shop and we fabbed up some longer shackles-Not a recommended way to do things, but at the time it fit the finacial bill of the day.

The photo below that one (with the beige along the bottom) was my first year with the truck (summer of '97), I had just landed 31"s... I was invincible.
