All carb will be shipped out today. I ended up having to make the cable brackets by hand because my other source couldn't get them to me in time. But they are done and I'll get everything boxed up and shipped out.

Just for the knowledge the one for 290 is that the 2f? Would my 76 take the same one?
290 is for the f and 2 f. Yes that is the one you want.

When will the next batch of Carbs for a 74 and 76 FJ40 be in? I would like to get on the list for one at this point in time.

About 4 weeks. If you want to get in line you can go ahead and prepay. You will probably be safe to get one if you do that in the next few weeks. I usually sell out before they get here and I've sold half of the next batch already.

Installed my new carb and desmog. Initially was great. Today used the fsm and the forum to adjust the screws. Honestly runs perfect and so quiet and smooth. It's really a different vehicle. Thanks for the carb. It's really awesome

What screws did you need to adjust. Im get ready to install in the next few days and would like some info on what you had to do to tune it. Im assuming the carb should be plug and play.

Yes the install is nearly plug n play. you will need to adapt your 2 wire decel solenoid to the one wire on the new carb. Its well described in the forum if you search troll hole carb install.

once in, you can use either the description in the FSM or on the forum "search idle mixture screw" and set the idle mixture by the lean drop method. then set the slow (690 rpm)and fast idle speeds (1500 rpm).
You have to remove the Air cleaner top to get to the mixture screw which is between the carb body and the valve cover. The slow idle screw is at the base facing you as you look from the driver fender side.

You'll need a tachometer to do this. I bought an inductive tach from harbor freight which did not work. So then I got a tach from Sears that connects to the ignitor. it was half the price (20$) and worked awesome. FWIW you connect the green wire on the tach to the small screw post to the left of the large primary ignition wire that goes to the dizzy(as you face the business end of the ignitor)

Thank you very much for your input. My carb is arriving tomorrow and this will be an exciting week. Will keep you all posted :)

I received my carb today!!!

For the other members here, id like to share some info on what i dealt with as a newb. I have a 1978 FJ40 with a 2F motor desmogged. Previous owner put a weber with cable throttle instead of linkage. To accommodate this awesome new carb, i had to purchase a new carb insulator from specter offroad. The insulator is a heat shield and an approx 3/4" spacer with build in gaskets. Also purchased carb studs and nuts from specter. The trollhole carb does not sit perfectly onto the new updated version of the insulator and i had to dremel out a few areas to clear the throttle linkage. The wire coming from the carb solenoid goes to the positive terminal of the coil. The only issue most people may come across are those with cable throttle. The cable bracket that trollhole provides does not directly fit the throttle cable for a weber. I had to cut a piece off the weber cable throttle bracket and weld onto the trollhole in order to fit my current throttle cable. I plugged everything in and cranked it for a few mins. Started up like a charm!!! I connected my rpm gauge to set idle. I just need to make a few more adjustments and ready.

This is truly a solid product!!!
Thank you Marshall!!!

finally got around to installing today. My biggest delay was I was missing the stock linkage since I was coming from a weber back to trollhole.

Once I had aquired the linkage and correct carb base. Bolted up, new choke cable, new fuel line, new fuel filter. I turned the key for 3-4 seconds and she fired up. Set idle and the 55 runs like a new pig.

She has so much more power and runs so smooth.

Thanks so much for the quality carb. It really is plug and play no tuning required.

Here are a couple of pig porn photos.

She sounds great with new carb!!

youtube of FJ55 running smoothly!!!

Cruiser starts with choke pulled out for 2-3 seconds then idle smooth as a sewing machine!!!
